GIBB CATEGORIES ACTIVITY

Approach an important person in your life and request some help in learning more about yourself. Begin by explaining all twelve of the Gibb behaviors to your significant other, a coworker, relative, friend, etc. Be sure to give enough examples so that each category is clearly understood. When your explanation is complete and you’ve answered all of your partner’s questions, ask him or her to tell you which of the Gibb categories you use. Seek specific examples so that you are certain to understand the feedback fully. (Because you are requesting an evaluation, be prepared for a little defensiveness on your own part at this point.) Inform your partner that you are interested in discovering both the defense-arousing and the supportive behaviors you use and that you are sincerely interested in receiving a candid answer.

Write a one page summary of what you learned: examples given by your partner, areas for improvement, areas you do well, how you felt as your partner was describing you, whether you agree with the evaluation, and what effect your use of the Gibb categories has on your personal and professional relationships, etc.

Business Performance Management Midterm

Provide two examples of actions management can take that will result in poor performance from their team.  Which of the historical breakthroughs in management theory may address the problems you’ve described?

What do you anticipate will be the next ‘big thing’ in management theory?  What needs or new developments in business do you propose will lead to the ‘big thing’ you’ve described?

What actions and responsibilities does the human resources department have to contribute to the organization’s performance management efforts?

You’ve learned about incentive programs and the balanced scorecard.  How might you tie incentive programs to the balanced scorecard to enhance organizational performance?

If you were in charge of the accounting department in your organization what actions would you take to ensure the accounting function was used appropriately to maximize their contributions to the organizational performance management effort? 500 words each question

Trends in organizational behavior and how to adapt it in your organization

Topic: Trends in organizational behavior and how to adapt it in your organization OR Organizational culture and communication

Write a short paper (450-600 words) that demonstrates a brief analysis of the scholarly research article you selected. You are to write your APA paper in such a way as to answer the questions/issues below. However, do not include the list on your paper. Instead, let the items guide the content expressed in your paper, which should be in typical paragraph form. Because of the shortness of the assignment, several of the items may be contained in a given paragraph. Be precise and you will be concise. Remember in the first paragraph you need to have a thesis statement. Please remember this is an academic paper and 3rd person is required.

•    After a brief introductory sentence. Tell whether the title is appropriate to the focus of the study. (Note: select an actual research study; avoid selecting a lecture on a topic. Research studies involve the collection and analysis of data, whereas lectures on a topic typically discuss a variety of research studies and do not provide the details of data collection and analysis.)
•    State the problem. Is the problem clearly stated? Does the problem have a theoretical rational? How significant is the problem studied in the research?
•    Is there a review of the literature? If so, is the literature relevant? Summarize (in a couple of sentences) the review of the literature.
•    Fully and completely describe the research method that was used to attack and answer the problem. Was the research method used to solve the problem qualitative or quantitative, or both? What instruments were used to answer the problem? Was there a sample used? If so, how was the sample selected?
•    State the hypothesis/questions or objectives. Were they stated clearly?
•    Are there any probable sources of error that might influence the results of the study? If so, have they been controlled?
•    What were the statistical or evaluative (quantitative/qualitative) techniques used to analyze the data? If so, were they appropriate? Note: There are many scholarly articles in appropriate journals that inform your topic. However, not all of them will describe research that evaluates data. Make sure that your selected article includes the evaluation/analysis of data. If you are unsure, this is the time to contact your professor and discuss it.
•    Summarize the results. How clearly were the results presented?
•    What are the limitations of the study? Are they stated?
•    Summarize the conclusion(s). Are the conclusions presented clearly? Does the data support the conclusions? Does the researcher over generalize the findings?
•    How can the results and conclusions presented in this study be applied in your particular field of study or work environment?

4. Utilize the APA Helps, as necessary, in the Resources area to help you present your brief paper in APA format, which means that you need to write a Title Page and References Page separate from the body of the text of the paper (no abstract or author note are needed). On this assignment, you should write the publication information about your article on the References Page (only one reference needed . . . the article you are analyzing) and then also cite the source in the body of the paper whenever you are stating facts from the article. Avoid unsupported statements whenever possible. In many cases, you will write a paragraph of text and insert a citation only once. When you have a direct quote, include the page number of the source, too. Some may ask why APA is so important. APA is the mode of communication of the written word in the business research field. It is the due diligence of graduate management students to excel at APA.

Training and Development 1

In order for an organization to increase employee engagement, the company may use various methods. Discuss the influences and learning in the workplace that contribute to training and development. In addition, address your personal experience with employee engagement.

It can be said that the most important talent management challenge that managerial positions face is identifying employees with managerial ability and training and developing those skills. Identify the factors related to identifying employees with managerial ability and training and developing those skills, and summarize what is needed to successfully manage an organization globally.

Discussion On Below Topics

Topic 1:

Discuss what talent management is and why it is a consideration addressed by a growing number of employers.

Topic 2:

Based on your experiences, as well as the research online, what are some good “rules of thumb” for conducting successful performance appraisal interviews?

—————-

  1. More than 200 words for each Topic
  2. NO plagiarism
  3. Always cite your sources using APA format
  4. Always use in-text citations
  5. 2 References must.

Case Study: Understanding Process Measurement Variation

Case Study: Understanding Process Measurement Variation

Introduction

For this assignment, you will conduct an experiment then create supporting visuals to be placed in a PowerPoint presentation of your findings. Your presentation should be easy to read and have a consistent design theme throughout. Please complete the first four chapters in the following LinkedIn Learning course on PowerPoint essentials before creating your presentation:

To help you learn about measurement variation, try this experiential learning exercise. (We are indebted to Alan Goodman, DuPont Company, Wilmington, Delaware, for bringing this exercise to our attention.)

Scenario

UPDATE: Due to COVID-19, students will NOT be collecting their own data for this assignment. Instead, your instructor will share the data sets with you.

You have started a new business providing height measurements of humans. Your customers expect accurate and precise measurements. You offer two methods of measurement: a yardstick or meterstick, and a tape measure. You must test the two methods to evaluate their performance and provide the results to your customers.

For this experiment, you will need the following:

  • A yardstick or meterstick.
  • A tape measure.
  • Access to a single entrance door that is six feet or taller.
  • Twenty or more individual participants.

Instructions

Method 1

You will test Method 1 in this way:

  1. Ask each participant to measure the height of the entrance door using the yardstick or the meterstick.
  2. The participant will report the measurement to you or someone you have designated as the data collector. If the participants are together, make sure that they don’t reveal their answers to anyone but the data collector.
  3. Tabulate the data and plot each measurement on a run or sequence chart. No deviation from the prescribed method is allowed.
Method 2

For Method 2, you may use the same or a different set of participants and the same entrance door or another door.

  1. This time, the participants will use the tape measure in any way they desire.
  2. Again, each person silently reports the measurement of the door to you or a designated data collector.
  3. Tabulate and plot each data point as in Method 1.

PowerPoint Presentation

Create a PowerPoint presentation in which you complete the following:

  1. Compare the accuracy and precision of the two methods using graphical and analytical methods.
    • Develop a flow chart for each method in which you specify the key problems that might be present.
    • Develop the supplier, input, process steps, output, and customer (SIPOC) model to analyze the process of both methods.
      • This may also be done in the flow chart. (Please reference these instructions on how to create a flow chart in Microsoft Word.)
  2. Identify the method that was most accurate. Provide a rationale for your response.
  3. Analyze the flow chart and SIPOC model to identify opportunity for improvement (OFI).
    • Next, categorize whether the OFIs are caused by special causes or common causes variations. Provide a rationale for your response.
    • Identify which method of measurement you would recommend. Explain why.
    • Discuss whether different methods should be used under different circumstances. Consider the role of different customer segments.
  4. Discuss the feelings the participants experienced when using the two methods.
    • Describe the differences between the two sets of feelings.
    • Assess whether these differences are important. Provide a rationale.
  5. Use Basic Search: Strayer University Online Library to identify at least two quality references to support your discussion.

Additional Requirements

Your assignment must meet these requirements:

  • PowerPoint presentation of at least eight content slides with responses to numbers 1 through 4 above.
  • Presentation includes a reference slide and a cover slide with the title of the assignment, your name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date.
    • Note: The cover and the reference slides are not included in the required minimum number of slides.
  • Formatting of the slides should be consistent and easy to read.

Site Description: Salary.com offers compensation information by providing industry specific-links to a variety of salary surveys and sources. In addition to being a valuable source for competitive job pricing information, it is an excellent resource for individuals to find out the market value for their job, search for job opportunities, and educate themselves about how to become more marketable. The site also does a fine job of explaining the importance of identifying and understanding the components, other than base salary, which comprise total compensation.

Directions for exploring the site: Enter your job title or keyword into the search field (you can also add a location). If you are currently unemployed, use your previous job or a job you hope to have after graduation. The site will provide a list of different jobs that meet your title/keyword. Brief descriptions are also provided to help you figure out which one matches the best. You can select up to 3 jobs to compare salaries. You’ll have to click the job title (or if comparing multiple jobs, the “free salary data”) to see the results.

Questions:

How does your current salary compare to the national averages? What is the closest percentile (10, 25, 50, 75, or 90)? If currently, unemployed, what are the salary levels at the 25, 50, and 75 quartiles?

Has this research changed your level of satisfaction with your salary? If yes, how? If no, why not?
