3. How can the practice of healthcare quality management enhance patient safety and minimize the negative consequences of health information technologies?

Twin-Tech Designs

You have been asked to present at a professional organization’s meeting and the topic requested was “Twin Technologies – Low-Tech and High-Tech Job Aides”.

Create one version that is interactive for a live audience in the same room with you. Provide some time for your own presentation as well as some time for group participation.

The organization’s webmaster is going to video tape your presentation but wants you to provide a design for an interactive event, for those individuals who were unable to attend. The Webmaster will build this interactive event in Flash. Therefore, you can combine slides, questions, and designated video segments of you presenting or of participants responding to questions. Use the Interactive Technology Design Template provided. Define for the webmaster, what how to translate the low-tech in-person design into a somewhat interactive, web-based design. Use the Interactive High-Tech Design Template

Finally, submit here ONE PAGE paper summarizing of your insights and discoveries during this exercise and a link to your design, using APA format.

Your paper should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Please include citations to support your ideas

M/3

Within the Discussion Board area, write 350–500 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

Situational leadership defines effectiveness when the leader can determine the level of development needed of the subordinates in a situation and then apply the appropriate leadership style to fill the gap. This unit will discuss the impact or influence demographics have on the 4 leadership style preferences. Discuss the following:

  1. Do you think that age influences the preference for a type leadership style? Which of the four leadership styles (delegating, supporting, coaching, directing) do you think Generation Z, Generation Y (Millennials), Generation X, Baby Boomers, and Traditionalists would prefer? Justify your answer with the literature.
  2. Do you think that gender influences the preference for a particular  leadership style? Which of the four leadership styles do you think males and females prefer?
  3. Are demographics such as age and gender reflected in situational  leadership approaches? Justify your answer.

In addition to addressing all requirements of the assignments, model answer includes the following:

  • Discuss age preferences in terms of:
    • Structure vs. less structure
    • Autonomy in their work
    • The ages for the generations are: Generation Z (born after 1997); Generation Y/Millennial (born between 1977–1997); Generation  X (born between 1965–1976); Baby Boomers (born between 1946–1964);  Traditionalist (born before 1945).
  • You may find in research that males prefer more directive and females prefer more supportive leadership styles.
  • Demographics are not reflected in situational leadership theory. This is one of the criticisms of the theory. The theory assumes that the preference is based on skills and motivation.
  • Properly cite the required reading materials.

Training and Development 7

An action plan is a written strategy used to achieve outlined goals. For the purposes of this assignment, the action plan will be created using PowerPoint. An action plan includes the components listed below, and you may refer to page 237 in the textbook for additional guidance.

  1. State the goal, which should identify what training content will be used and how it will be used.
    1. The goal for this action plan is to assist managers with identifying how performance appraisals are used to demonstrate the success of training efforts.
  2. Include the strategies for reaching the goal including what the trainee must do, what resources will be needed, and the type of support from managers and peers that will be necessary.
  3. Include the strategies for receiving the feedback, which will be used to demonstrate the success of the training efforts.
  4. Define the expected assessment results and how the results can be used to improve training.

After the title slide, begin your action plan by stating the goal. Next, identify at least three strategies for reaching the goal. Briefly explain your chosen strategies with supporting data in the speaker notes section of the PowerPoint presentation. For the third part of the action plan, develop a 10-question survey that could be used to demonstrate the success of the plan. Conclude your action plan with a summary of the expected results and how the manager could use them to improve training.

This action plan should contain at least 12 slides. You must use at least two sources with one being the textbook and the other being academic in nature from any database within the CSU Online Library. Be sure to cite and reference sources using proper APA style.

Here are some general guidelines to follow when preparing your PowerPoint presentation.

  • Design your presentation with the back of the room in mind. It is important that everyone can easily see and read the content.
  • Select a professional-looking slide design appropriate for the presentation and audience.
  • White text on a dark background is the easiest for the audience to see.
  • Use a large font size.
  • Use color and graphics when appropriate. Illustrations should relate to the content being discussed. Be creative.
  • Follow the 6 x 6 rule (i.e., use no more than six lines per slide and no more than six words per line).
  • Utilize the speaker notes function to add your talking points.
  • Bullet points work best on the slides.
  • Add slide transitions to enhance the audience’s experience.
