Globalization has implications for leaders that reach beyond sensitivity. For example, globalization may require leaders to interact with other leaders from various countries to set procedural guidelines on matters such as establishing safety standards for distributing medical supplies or facilitating health communication. Therefore, within local and/or global leadership organizations, health care administration leaders must be aware of multicultural issues and challenges. As a result, multicultural awareness and competency, important elements of multicultural leadership, play a crucial role in determining appropriate actions, attitudes, and expectations. Furthermore, values and value systems that may differ across multicultural populations also contribute to leadership philosophies for informing how leaders interact, engage, and execute leadership strategies.

For this Discussion, select two challenges associated with multicultural leadership. As a scholar-practitioner in the field of health care administration, think about strategies you may use to address these challenges. Consider how your health care administration leadership philosophy may contribute to these strategies for multicultural leadership challenges.

The strategic audit system is a diagnostic tool to pinpoint an organization’s strengths and weaknesses. Use the Strategic Analysis Framework and other tools in order to conduct a strategic audit.  You might consider using a SWOT analysis for both companies to analyze each of their situations.

For this assignment, a mini strategic audit will be conducted for two companies with an overall goal to compare how each company differs in the strategy management and implementation, while identifying the importance of strategic management.

  • Conduct a Strategic Audit on two companies of your choice that are within the same industry. During this audit, you will be comparing each company, to do so be sure to create a SWOT analysis for each company.
  • In addition, visit each company’s website and conduct research to identify key strategies that each company has. List a brief introduction of each company, to include the Mission Statement and compare key aspects of each company.
  • Be sure to include the concepts identified in the readings for this week’s topics. 

The requirements below must be met for your paper to be accepted and graded:

  • Write between 750 – 1,250 words (approximately 3 – 5 pages) using Microsoft Word in APA style, see example below.
  • Use font size 12 and 1” margins.
  • Include cover page and reference page.
  • At least 80% of your paper must be original content/writing.
  • No more than 20% of your content/information may come from references.
  • Use at least three references from outside the course material, one reference must be from EBSCOhost. Text book, lectures, and other materials in the course may be used, but are not counted toward the three reference requirement.
  • Cite all reference material (data, dates, graphs, quotes, paraphrased words, values, etc.) in the paper and list on a reference page in APA style.

 Measurable objectives are goal points for specific hopefuls achievements.  These objective types state a goal/change that is needing to happen.  Measurable objectives are important for keeping a project on course and focused on specific goal points.  Meeting these goal points ensures everything is running smoothly and stakeholders are satisfied

  • Describe how  this model will guide your human resources leadership role 

I took the leadership orientation assessment and learned that I have more of an initiating structure than a consideration structure. The initiating structure is described ad the extent that a leader is task oriented as well as how they direct their subordinates’ work towards achieving goals (Daft, 2018). I only scored one point lower in consideration. Consideration looks what the extent that a leader cares about their subordinates, establishes trust, and respects their ideas and feelings (Daft, 2018). I tend to lead on a sliding scale with both of these. If I am with a group that need more direction I will fall more to the initiating structure, where as if I am with a group that does not need as much direction and that needs a little more in terms of personal relationships I will fall more towards consideration.

  • identify how this model can impact your influence skills with stakeholders outside of the human resources area. 

The leadership style assessment showed that I am equally task orientated and people oriented (Daft, 2018). I think that this will impact my influence skills with stake holders because I am able to adapt my leadership style based on the situation. I also think that this will impact my influence skills because it is suggested that a balance of concern for tasks and a concern for people is critical to have success in leadership long term. Stakeholders would be looking for someone that can be successful longer because it would not require them to spend as much money to replace leaders when they are no longer as effective.

Prominent Leaders

Use the Ashford Library to research a prominent leader, living or deceased, who you admire. Explain whether the leader’s style is transactional or transformational. What type of leadership characteristics does the leader demonstrate? What aspects of servant leadership does the leader exhibit?  Provide relevant examples to support your claims.

The paper should be three to four pages in length (excluding title and reference pages).  At least two scholarly references (a minimum of one being from the Ashford Library) plus the course textbook must be utilized in the research. The paper should also reflect proper APA format and style and integrate resources with in-text citations to support the writing. Vocabulary and course content should be integrated throughout the paper.

Health care administration leaders face many challenges when executing decision making for day-to-day operations in their organizations. For example, consider how organization-wide initiatives, such as promoting patient and employee safety, represent overarching guidelines that a health care administration leader must ensure are thoroughly enforced. 

How might health care administration leaders determine what is best for their organization? What types of considerations might health care administrators take into account when enforcing organizational guidelines and practices?

For this Assignment, review the resources for this week and the “Case Study Assignment” document. Reflect on the issues presented in the Case Study assigned and consider how you might approach the case as a health care administration leader.

Balancing the long-term goals and short-term drivers

Write an overview of the importance of an integrated annual operating plan for human resources in view of the continuously changing market climate. Explain how such a plan might provide balance between short-term drivers and long-term needs. Describe the circumstances appropriate to deviating from such a plan or justifying a different path than that planned. Discuss concrete strategies, including metrics and milestones, that can be used by the Department of Human Resources to add rigor in achieving this balance while meeting long-term corporate goals for the organization’s overall needs.
