Aligning Service Delivery Models with Community Problems

Aligning Service Delivery Models with Community Problems

In Riverbend City: Roles, Skills, and Service Models, you choose a service model that you felt would be most appropriate for a task force addressing the issue of youth and teen homelessness. What service model did you choose, and why did you choose this model?

In addition, you were asked to invite additional task members to this task force based on your choice of service model. What criteria did you use to select these task force members?

Now consider the community problem you are writing about in this course. Identify which service delivery model aligns best to that community problem:

  • Why is this the best model and are there gaps in how this model addresses the problem that you would need to bridge in order to create a successful solution?
  • Did you choose the same service delivery model for this problem that you did for the Riverbend City youth and teen homelessness task force? Explain why or why not.

Response Guidelines

Respond to the posts of at least two of your peers. Ask any questions that will help you better understand their post. Make suggestions that will provide your peers with food for thought.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & OPERATIONS – CATEGORY MANAGER ANALYSIS

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & OPERATIONS – CATEGORY MANAGER ANALYSIS

Due Date

Week 3

Note: While representative of possible situations faced by Alikay Naturals, all scenarios in this assignment are fictional.

Real Business

Let’s roll up our sleeves and use what we’ve learned this week in a real-life business situation. Each week, you’ll encounter a scenario where you will assume the role of a business person at or who works at a national discount retail store, like a Walmart or Target. These companies provide important, everyday staples for millions of people across the country and have become very successful businesses in the process.

Discount retail stores have locations in communities across the country. They often have strong and recognizable brands that are household names. We will explore how business works throughout this course by taking on a few of the many different roles at successful companies like these.

Your Role

This week, you’ll assume the role of a Category Manager for the Beauty Products category at a national discount retail store.

WHAT IS A CATEGORY MANAGER?

Category Managers are responsible for related groups of products (for example, baseball equipment or laundry detergents) for a retail business. They use research, information and insights about the category to change shopper behavior and increase sales of the products in the category. They also work with the suppliers of the products in their category to ensure that good products and services are available to customers.

As a Category Manager, part of your role is to analyze data and information about how well a product is selling to help the maker of that product improve the product and consider introducing new products. Rochelle and her team at Alikay Naturals have asked you, the Beauty Products Category Manager, to review one of their products and determine where it lies in the product life cycle. Additionally, they have asked you to recommend ways to improve the product in order to increase sales.

Step 1: Product Life Cycle

Read the Product Report for Alikay Naturals Moisturizing Black Soap Shampoo. The Product Report contains important information that will help you to identify where the product stands in the Product Life Cycle and give you clues about what changes customers might like to see. Respond to Rochelle and her team at Alikay Naturals based on the information in the Product Report.

  • Identify where Moisturizing Black Soap Shampoo is currently positioned in the product life cycle and describe the rationale for your position.
  • Compose 3 questions that Rochelle should pose to her team to better understand the product’s positioning and potential at this particular stage in its life cycle. (E.g., if you have determined the product is in the Introduction Phase, you might suggest the question: How have competitors priced similar products?)

Step 2: Product Changes

Based on what you’ve learned:

  • What recommendation(s) do you have for Alikay Naturals to improve or replace Moisturizing Black Soap Shampoo?

Step 3: New Product Development

Read the New Product Proposal, which contains three examples of possible products that could be developed to replace Moisturizing Black Soap Shampoo. Based on the information in this proposal and the customer feedback in the Product Report:

  • If you had to recommend one product, which product would you recommend they create? Explain your decision.
  • Determine which type of innovation this represents from among the four main types discussed this week. Briefly explain why you chose that type of innovation.

Note: You should complete Step 4 after reading the material in Week 3

Step 4: Production Methods

Based on your understanding of Alikay’s position in the product life cycle and expected sales volume:

  • Which production method do you think Alikay is using for the Black Soap Shampoo? Explain your rationale.
  • If Alikay chose to keep the Moisturizing Black Soap Shampoo and launch your recommended product as a ͞limited time only͟ trial, what production method should Alikay use for the test market product? Why?

Step 5: Real-World Application

Choose a product at your company or one that you are familiar with that is in the mature stage of the product life cycle. Briefly describe the product, why you believe it is in this phase, and what improvements could be made to change its current path.

Human Service Professionals come from different disciplines including social work, counseling, marriage and family, and psychology. No one field has been shown to be more effective than another when it comes to counseling. However, studies show that some Human Service Professionals are more effective than others. One of the most important skills of all Human Service Professionals is building rapport to discuss personal and sensitive topics.

Choose someone you are comfortable with and interview them on a controversial topic in which you may have differing viewpoints.

Write a 1-2 page synopsis on the mock interview including the topic, their viewpoints, how you got them to discuss the sensitive topic, and strategies you believe make an “effective” Human Service Professional.

Respond (discussion post) Compare your thoughts on designing a social media policy. Provide constructive feedback to your peers for improving their analyses.

When developing a social media policy it is important that the policy is clear and consistent, and is able to provide examples on what is allowed and not allowed. Moreover, when it comes to legal aspects to policies governing what an employee may or may not do on social media, but a one or two sentence policy is not going to cut it (Johnson, 2017). It is vital when considering a social media policy that when creating a social media policy that it is reviewed, and tweaked to ensure that the expectations are clearly defined so that there are no gray areas that could possibly lead to legal action.

There are challenges and risks when formulating a social media policy. Formulating a policy has to comply with the National Labor Relation Act in which protects employees’ rights to communicate regarding their environment and terms of their employment. Over the past few years the NLRB investigated found reasonable cause to believe that some policies and disciplinary actions violated federal labor law, and the NLRB Office of General Counsel issued complaints against employers alleging unlawful conduct (NLRB, n.d.). Legal questions will arise due to social media always evolving, and it is important for Human Resources to keep updates with current laws and regulations.

Policy that addresses a company’s engagement in social media should be approved and championed from upper management, and also be technologically neutral. This support should have the company’s goals, objectives, governance structure, and company culture. Successful policy creation should be a collaborative effort within the company. Additionally, if records and information management personnel are developing the policy, they should elicit input into policy development from other stakeholder groups, including, but not limited to, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, and Marketing (Keys For Developing a Social Media Policy).

literature review

I would like to have one literature review for about 3000 words. My major is international human resource management and my dissertation topic is what factors contribute to the emergence of the Agency Model in Chinese food delivery industry. Under the Agency Model, agencies are set as bridges of the platform and riders. The platform (like Deliveroo) distributes orders to different agencies and those agencies can recruit their own riders to complete the orders.

Therefore, I want to have two levels of factors in literature review, one is country-level factors and another is industrial factors. For country-level factors, I prefer CIA ( Comparative institutional analysis) and look at the development of this concept (e.g. including Whitely 1999 and Hall & Soskice 2001). Then, focus on the culture systems, political systems and labour systems and link them to Chinese contexts and if possible, link them to Chinese food delivery industry. For industry-level factors, I prefer ‘organizational isomorphism’, which means that looking at the other agency model in China. For example, “There is a possibility that this unique Agency Model evolves and develops through this way as China already has various agency models used in Airline industries before the gig economy”.

Afterwards, looking at Chinese traditional human dispatching companies and if possible, make some comparison.

At last, describe the food delivery industry in the UK like Deliveroo, and make some comparison.
