The Learning Resources in this first week will help you answer these questions, and they will provide you with a foundation in the philosophy of science that will help you appreciate various research designs and methods. With this foundation, you will be encouraged to reflect on how your assumptions about the acquisition of truth and the nature of the world influence your approach to the research process.

For this Discussion, you will identify an area of interest for a possible research topic. As you read about the different philosophical orientations in this week’s readings, consider if one of these orientations most closely aligns with your worldview and a particular approach to research.

According to DuBrin (2015), “Cultural intelligence is an outsider’s ability to interpret someone’s unfamiliar and ambiguous behavior the same way that person’s compatriots would” (p. 177). In this case, how would you incorporate cultural intelligence within a team setting? Please explain.

When you begin work with couples and families, you likely will conclude after only a few cases that all couples and families are different in at least a few ways. Members of these couples and families individually belong to many different population subgroups, with each group exerting cultural influence. Based on conflict resolution traditions or power distance index of a certain culture, for instance, you may need to modify the theoretical approach you take with a client with that background.

Keep in mind that the classroom study of theory and intervention integration cannot provide a description of how to modify or tailor your theory to all the potential relational and cultural presentations you will see. It should, however, provide you with a solid foundation and a toolbox with which to work.

For this Discussion, select a cultural consideration (related to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) and think about how this consideration may impact the application of your theoretical orientation when working with couples and families. Then, reflect on how you might modify interventions in professional work in which this consideration is present.

By Day 4

Post a brief description of the cultural consideration you selected. Then, explain two challenges of applying your theoretical orientation to address this cultural consideration when working with couples and families. Explain how you might modify evidence-based interventions to be more culturally sensitive and responsive. Justify your response using evidence-based articles.

You’ll find all of these on Google; view them and WRITE A FEW LINES THAT YOU THINK REFLECT THE VALUES INVOLVED IN PRODUCING THESE WORKS.  Just a few lines will do.  This will be the “observations” part of your first portfoio.  

It is increasingly vital that health care administration leaders are aware of the world around them. Through understanding and reflecting on current events in health care administration, leaders may develop solutions to health issues and challenges on a local, regional, or national scale.

For this Discussion, select a current event in the field of health care administration leadership whereby the leader used a systems thinking approach. Reflect on the leadership featured within the event and consider how the leader’s specific characteristics impacted the outcomes of the event. Additionally, think about whether the leader’s use of systems thinking might have affected event outcomes.

Post a brief description of the current event you selected. Then, describe the positive and negative characteristics of leadership represented in that event. Finally, explain how the leaders in the event used a systems thinking approach and how systems thinking affected event outcomes. Be specific and provide examples.

Support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources and the current literature.

Discuss the benefits of pilot testing prior to the full implementation of a performance management system. Include the decisions that the HR department must consider when conducting a pilot test.
