INVENTORY MANAGEMENT – WALMART

The Session Long Project is not a term paper due at the end of the course. Rather, the SLP acts as a vehicle to give the topics of each module a personal, concrete expression. These modular Session Long Project assignments are due at the end of each module.

I want you to pick an organization to examine throughout the rest of the course. It may be one you work for or it may not. You will be examining this organization for the following modules’ SLP assignments and responsible for locating at least three references to use in each SLP paper to support your discussion points.

This first SLP deals with the structure of this organization and its inventory management. In 3–4 pages (not counting the cover sheet and reference sheet), describe the organization to include these key areas:

  1. The name of the organization
  2. Its primary business
  3. Why you chose this business
  4. Its inventory management procedures. This is the key aspect of the assignment. Be sure to elucidate this in some detail. Does this company use VMI? Could it use VMI? What does it use to ensure it has the right inventory at the right time and control the costs?

SLP Assignment Expectations

Research the organization with information you can find on the internet or other resources you find on your own. The paper should be 3–4 pages in length and have a cover sheet and a reference page. Clarity of presentation is important, as well as your ability to apply the topics to the logistics area of your selected firm. Use at least 3 different sources of information and annotate your sources of information appropriately on your references page and within the text as necessary. You will be assessed on how well you demonstrate your knowledge of the topic as it applies to your selected firm. Submit your assignment for grading by the end of this module.

You have been assigned as the project manager of an EHR implementation at your facility. Your first order of business is to select members for the implementation committee. At your first meeting, you will also be required to describe the importance of an implementation committee and provide an overview of key health information system concepts as they relate to successful system planning and implementation.

  1. In a Word document, write out your notes for the presentation you will give at the first meeting. Discuss the importance and role of an implementation committee and the team’s responsibilities in planning, implementing, and evaluating health information systems. Also, discuss:

Management Overview

Do some research and answer the following critical thinking questions from this week’s readings in an essay format. Ensure you have a good introduction, body, and conclusion in your essay. In your analysis, cite a minimum of three (3) references from different sources (the textbook can be one source).

  1. Describe the formal, three-part definition of management and explain the most important part of the management definition and why you chose that part.
  2. Mintzberg’s study in the 1960s came up with three important findings about a manager’s routine. Identify the three findings and describe ways that technology and social media have changed the roles of managers since Mintzberg’s 1960 study.
  3. Analyze the two overarching theoretical perspectives about management and how they are applied to organizations. Also, explain the three viewpoints that each one covers.

Your submission should be a minimum of two (2), double-spaced, full pages of analysis with proper reference citation per current APA guidelines.

Portfolio Milestone – Progress, Timeline, and Roadblocks – APA –

For this Portfolio Milestone perform the following:

  • Provide a one-page submission noting your progress to date on the portfolio project,
  • update the timeline of activities remaining for portfolio production originally produced in Week 2,
  • update the concerns and roadblocks you have on the portfolio from Week 2 showing those you have resolved and how, along with any remaining concerns or roadblocks, and
  • how you will overcome those.

No need for formal APA submission for this assignment. Your timeline of activities is most critical as are your concerns, roadblocks, and how you will overcome those. It is expected that your timeline shows at least one task each week from Week 2 through Week 8, and many weeks should have multiple tasks.

Major areas where an employer is likely to risk liability for invading the privacy of its employees in private (non-government) workplaces include the following:

  • Surveillance and eavesdropping
  • Monitoring and reviewing computer information and use
  • Requests for information from third parties, particularly job reference requests
  • Requests for medical information
  • Maintenance of personnel files
  • Drug testing of potential or current employees
