Individual Project unit 4

  4-6 pages (body)

Shannon Albright has an accounting degree from a U.S. accredited university. She also became certified as a CPA (certified public accountant). Upon graduation, she was offered and accepted an entry-level accounting position at a firm in Atlanta, GA. She has been gainfully employed with this firm for the last 5 years. Recently she interviewed with your firm, which is located in Boston, MA. You, working for the human resources department, want to hire Shannon for your organization’s financial accountant position.

You know Shannon is a strong candidate, and you want to develop a competitive offer that will attract Shannon yet still fit within the company’s budget and compensation structure (i.e., considering both internal and external equity).

With this in mind, you are asked to prepare the offer for Shannon. The following will be included in this package and should be specific to Shannon and this situation:

  • Compensation package: What pay rate will you offer (using salary survey research as support)? What else may be included in the compensation package?
  • Incentive plan: What performance-based incentives does this offer include?
  • Benefits plan: What specific benefit plans does this offer include?

It is important to provide the necessary supporting details to explain the incentives and benefits being offered. The more details you provide, the better educated Shannon will be to make her decision to accept.

Along with these packages, you will include a 1-page cover letter addressed to your supervisor that outlines what you propose to offer.

  • This cover letter should explain and justify the compensation package, incentive plan, and benefits plan.
  • Make sure to discuss job location and experience level
  • Your detailed plans will then follow that cover page.

Using the Internet and library, locate all necessary information for constructing these 3 packages. This is a research assignment so be sure to include and cite your research within the paper using APA style.

The Assignment—Part 2:

Group Case Study Analysis (2–3 pages):

Then, using your leadership Assignment for the Case Study, collaborate with your colleagues to create a Group Case Study Analysis that includes:

  • An explanation of how the challenges identified in the individual case analyses collectively affect crisis response by the system and the individuals within it
  • An explanation of how transformational and transactional leaders might influence outcomes within this case
  • A summary of how poor leadership might affect the outcome of the case

Support your Case Study with specific references to all resources and current literature used in its preparation. You are to provide a reference list for all resources, including those in the Learning Resources for this course.

You have been hired as an associate for a software company that offers support solutions and customer service to more than 500 businesses in the United States.  The company has recently started to experience significant growth and will need to hire many new associate positions.  Your manager, Jack Nyugen, has asked you to help create a recruiting video for the company that emphasizes the company as having a positive corporate culture in which employees live the company’s core values and like coming to work.  Jack provides you with a recruiting video for Zendesk, a favorite company of his, and has asked you to view the video to gain an understanding of the concepts, organizational culture and organizational structure.  Jack knows the value of seeing is believing but also knows the value in a person who is able to articulate what is seen.

Jack has asked you to view the video on Zendesk:    https://youtu.be/l0uaSU6IVN4.   (You may need to right click on the link and open in a new window.)

You will write a report addressed to Jack and will use only the Zendesk video and course materials.  If external sources are used, the information will not be included in the grading.

  2. Research/find a minimum at least four (4), preferably five (5) or more, different peer- reviewed articles on your topic from the University of the Cumberlands Library online business database. The article(s) must be relevant and from a peer-reviewed source. While you may use relevant articles from any time frame, current/published within the last five (5) years are preferred. Using literature that is irrelevant or unrelated to the chosen topic will result in a point reduction.
  3. Write a five (5) page double spaced paper in APA format discussing the findings on your specific topic in your own words. Note – paper length does not include cover page, abstract, or references page(s).

A literature review is a summary of the major points and findings of each of the selected articles (with appropriate citations). Direct quotations should be used sparingly. Normally, this will be the largest section of your paper (this is not a requirement; just a general observation).

Ethical Topic and Question

Before writing the paper, you will need to spend some time thinking about the specific ethical issue you want to focus on throughout this course.

  • Begin this task by viewing the list of approved ethical topics and questions provided in the Week 1 Announcement titled: “Written Assignment Ethical Topics and Questions List.” Take some time looking over the list and browsing through some of the material in the corresponding chapters of the textbook in which each topic is addressed and decide which to focus on.
  • Once you have done this, choose one of the ethical questions associated with that topic. If you wish to do so, you may formulate your own ethical question, but it must be on one of the topics listed in the announcement. Be sure to carefully study the provided questions and model your own question after them in terms of specificity and ethical focus.”

Place the ethical question under the Part 1: Ethical Question heading at the top of the paper.
