   Total Rewards System Proposal
This research-based assignment focuses on the latest available information about creating, organizing, and managing a total rewards program. Envision a service-based (insurance, telemarketing, or other) profit organization that employs 20,000 employees in 17 different countries (AT&T). There are 2,000 management-level individuals who speak a variety of languages. The company employs diverse individuals who are governed by multiple regulatory environments.
 

Write an eight to ten (8-10) page paper in which you:

1. Create a brief overview of the company requirements for a total rewards system.

2. Formulate a total rewards strategy to encompass the fundamentals of compensation and the regulatory environments.

3. Explain the advantages of the total rewards strategy you are proposing and how it might satisfy the employees’ needs.

4. Determine the key communication components of the total rewards system.

5. Indicate your strategy for devising a competitive pay structure.

6. Use at least five (5) quality academic resources in this assignment

In discussion 1, you considered how you might create an instrument for measuring a phenomenon or client issue. For this assignment, you will take on the role of a Human Resource Manager for a mid-size corporation with 200 employees and develop a company HR Policy and Manual. Prior to beginning the assignment, review the 10 “Employee Relations Scenarios.” Assess eight relevant employment and labor laws (e.g., OSHA, FMLA, Affirmative Action, ADA, Title VII, FLSA, ERISA, and/or EEOC) as they relate to the issues set forth in the ten employee relations scenarios.  Explain how you would minimize these issues through the policy.

The HR Policy and Manual should be clearly organized and include the following:

1. In U.S. politics the Democratic party has generally been more supportive of labor unions than the Republican party. Explain why it makes sense that the Wagner Act was sponsored by a Democrat, the Taft-Hartley Act by two Republicans, and the Landrum-Griffin Act by one of each.
2. In both the private and public sectors, a sharp increase in union membership coincides with the passage of protective legislation. A longstanding debate is whether increased demand for unionization causes new legislation or vice versa. Explain how causality can work in both directions. Employees might respond to workplace injustice in one of five ways: quitting, individual voice (such as complaining), collective voice (including forming a union), resistance (including work withdrawal such as absenteeism, reduced work effort, and work avoidance, or perhaps even sabotage), and silence. Specific methods of data collection (e.g., surveys, interviews, observations) produce specific types of data that will answer particular research questions, but not others; so here too, as covered in previous weeks, the research questions inform how the data will be obtained.  Furthermore, the method used to collect the data may impact the reliability and the validity of that data.

For this Discussion, you will first consider sampling strategies. Then, you will turn your attention to data collection methods, including their strengths, limitations, and ethical implications. Last, you will consider measurement reliability and validity in the context of your discipline.
