Field Trip

PART 1: Go to one of your favorite stores and take a picture of something that catches your eye—the front entrance from the street, a display rack inside, a sign on the wall, etc. Upload the photo to the discussion thread and provide a summary of the following:

  1. The products offered by the store you visited and why you like shopping there
  2. What the photo shows us about the decisions the store has made regarding one or more of the 4 P’s
  3. How these 4 P’s work together to keep you coming back again and again

USE THE NIKE STORE

PAR Level Exercise

Review the housekeeping linen inventory sheet and establish the par levels based on daily usage.

Note that not all items require par levels at daily usage x 5. Discards can amount to pilferage. Hence, discards should be authorized by the Nursing Home Administrator. The physical inventory sheet will almost always show some discrepancies. For example, the shortage of 150 wash cloths may be excessive.

So establish the par levels for the highlighted items in green

Calculate the closing inventory and amounts needed to bring the inventory up to par levels for the highlighted items in green:

Project Stage 5

Instructions

Introduction: Throughout this course, you will be working on a staged project researching a public policy issue as identified in your project proposal. At this point, you are being asked to present your findings and evaluation to your classmates and instructor.

Instructions: At this point, you will present your project to the instructor and your peers. Your presentation should include the following components:

  1. An introduction to the policy issue and its background
  2. Your methods and results from data collection
  3. An evaluation of the impact of this policy, as supported by your findings. Include in your evaluation about how you would score this policy on the Public Value

  5. Recommendations regarding this policy and why you are making the recommendations
  6. Conclusions based on your research, including any future research that may be needed

The Presentation should be 10-12 minutes in length. It should be narrated. Remember to be clear and professional in your delivery, as if you were delivering this to the appropriate governmental agency.

For some additional guidance on designing presentations, see the How to Design A Good PowerPoint Presentation page in this module. Remember that your presentation should be a narrated PowerPoint (or you may use Panopto or MoveNote). It helps to script what you are going to say before you narrate it.

You may submit your presentation as either a narrated PowerPoint or you may use Panopto or MoveNote to record it and submit this version. Instructions for recording your presentation as a video with these tools is available on the Recording a Presentation module page.

question-

Discuss the adverse impact of stereotyping in the workplace. Give detailed examples of various HR functions where stereotyping may occur. Examine the consequences of stereotyping as they relate to an employer’s exposure to liability.

students response

Stereotyping is often a gateway to harassment and discrimination, but even if it does not progress to those extents, it is a danger to the functionality of any workplace. It creates tensions and barrier between employees and management and limits the potential of an organization’s employees.

Stereotyping can occur in virtually any HR function. It can happen in recruiting by choosing which collage fair to attend based on diversity demographics. It can happen in workplace safety by designing trainings for younger audiences, assuming they are more careless or less knowledgeable. Likewise, stereotyping can happen in other training and development by targeting specific groups of people while leaving others out because of a stereotype that a particular group has less knowledge, talent, or skill. Stereotyping can present itself while resolving workplace conflicts or even designing benefit packages by relying on generalizations of people instead of getting to the root of the problem or finding out what is most important to individual employees.

The bottom line is that stereotyping is a slippery slope that increases an employer’s liability. The more instances of stereotyping, the harder it becomes to prove that the employer is acting without bias or discrimination.

Discussion

What different considerations do human resource professionals need to examine when handling voluntary separations and involuntary separations? Explain your response, and use at least one academic source to support your points

Homework Question

This short paper will help you synthesize information from the readings for this module and inform your thinking when you work on Section IV of the final project.

Using the final project case study transcripts provided and the articles “Bias Has No Place at Work” and “Workplace Religious Accommodation Issues for Adherents of Islam” from the module resources, assess the cultural needs of Kareem versus the culture at ABC Corporation. System Development Life Cycle: Phases IV & V – Implementation and Maintenance

Overview

With the justification of an HRIS solidified, you need to show  your client how you will implement the HRIS using one of the change  models discussed in our text. You will also need to explain and justify  cost associated with implementation via a cost benefit analysis. You  want to ensure the system is properly maintained and evaluated for  continuous improvement. Therefore, you will include a maintenance and  evaluation plan in your proposal.

Instructions

Write a 3–4 page proposal, in which you do the following:

Change Management
  1. Discuss the various reasons system implementation fails.  Compare and contrast various change models. Then select a change model  to use during system implementation. Provide details of how you will use  the change model, and justify why you selected one model over the other  models. Explain the various steps that should be included to ensure the  change model is effective.
HRIS Implementation
  1. Discuss the activities that are necessary prior to the system  going live, and provide a timeline for these activities. Specify which  change management team member will be responsible for each activity, and  explain their role.
Cost Benefit Analysis
  1. Create a cost benefit analysis matrix for the HRIS vendor you  chose during Phase III: Design. Analyze the cost justification  strategies that you will use to justify the cost of the HRIS, including  data that identify each benefit and cost component examined, estimates  of the dollar amount for each, estimates on when the organization will  incur each cost and receive each benefit, and documentation justifying  each decision you made in listing these benefits.
Maintenance
  1. Discuss how you will ensure the system is properly maintained and evaluated for continuous improvement.
Resources
  1. Use at least three quality academic resources in this  assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as  academic resources.

This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards. For  assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing  Standards link in the left-hand menu of your course.

The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:

  • Create an HRIS implementation and maintenance plan that  includes a timeline of activities, responsibilities, and a cost-benefit  analysis.
