Continuing from Assignment 1, you were selected as the new HR director for the retail company and now have been in the position for approximately 6 months. Your approach to strategy, planning, and selection have been quite successful thus far, and now it is time to address the organization’s expectation for performance and development of employees since these components of HR strategy are critical in achieving business outcomes and success.
 

Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you: 

· Critically analyze and discuss any researched (web or textbook) training process model you may consider for use in developing employees (here’s an idea: https://educationaltechnology.net/the-addie-model-instructional-design/ or exhibit 7-1, page 230 in the text book). Then, identify and discuss some possible challenges that might be faced in implementing a new training process in the company. 

· List and briefly discuss at least three (3) types or methods of training that can be used for employee training. Of the 3, which would you select to train the retail employees, and why? Be specific. 

· Differentiate the concept of performance management and performance appraisal with three (3) to four (4) key points. Then, make your case to leadership for or against using annual performance appraisals in the organization. Be specific with your perspective. 

· Format your assignment according to these formatting requirements:

Assignment

This week, your theoretical orientation is cognitive behavior theory. You will use the same case study that you chose in Week 2 and have been analyzing in this course. Use the “Dissecting a Theory and Its Application to a Case Study” worksheet to help you dissect the theory. You do not need to submit this handout. It is a tool for you to use to dissect the theory and then you can employ the information in the table to complete your assignment.

In this Assignment, you prepare a 5-minute video case presentation. It is common to present a case analysis in multidisciplinary team meetings or with your supervisor and colleagues. This assignment offers you an opportunity to provide insights and perspectives to a case.

To prepare:

  • Use the same case study that you chose in Week 2.

    This article provides a nice framework for how the authors’ cognitive-behavioral theoretical orientation shaped the conceptualization of the case and assessment and intervention.

Discussion

The NASW Code of Ethics provides social workers with guidelines and standards for interacting with clients, colleagues, communities, and society, as a whole. These standards govern interactions and professional behavior of social work practitioners. The NASW has also developed specific standards, which are published in the NASW Standards for Social Work Practice With Clients With Substance Use Disorders. These standards emphasize the importance of the competence of social workers. The standards indicate that social workers should be knowledgeable of evidence-based interventions for substance disorders. The confidentiality standard becomes essential as social workers must be informed and comply with federal, state, and local laws about substance use, as well as third-party payee regulations.

A lot of people know someone who identifies as lesbian, homosexual, or bisexual. Choose someone who is comfortable being interviewed and conduct an interview. You will not need to provide their identity. This exercise will get you familiar asking questions that may be considered uncomfortable.

  1. When did you first think you might be gay?
  2. When was your first crush?
  3. First date or sexual activity?
  4. Did you try to live the straight lifestyle for a period of time?
  5. Were you ever in denial?
  6. Have you come out to your family?
  7. How did they react?
  8. Have you ever been the victim of homophobic comments?
  9. Have you ever been discriminated against?

Option 2 – Heterosexual

Interview someone who you know that is Heterosexual with the following questions and complete your self-assessment.

  1. Are you sure you are straight?
  2. How do you know?
  3. Have you ever seen a member of the same sex and found them to be attractive in a sexual way? Ever?
  4. How long have you been straight?
  5. Were you born that way?
  6. Or was there something that happened in your childhood that made you straight?
  7. Were you straight before you had your first sexual experience?
  8. How do you know you were?
  9. Does your family know you are straight? Have you “come out?”

After you complete the interview, complete a self-assessment (2-3 paragraphs) on how comfortable you felt asking such sensitive and personal questions. What did you learn about discussing sensitive subjects? What will you do differently next time?
