Purpose of Assignment: This reviews the SMART goals model and challenges students to apply their knowledge by creating SMART goal scenarios and responses. 

Transferable skill: Digital Fluency

Effectively employing and understanding digital tools to express ideas in appropriate contexts. In the human services field, digital fluency manifests through mastery of apps and software that can help a worker organize data, locates services and track client progress.

Instructions:

You now have an opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of the SMART goals model. Respond to the following scenarios and include the following in your submission:

  • Write a goal for each scenario.
  • Using each part of the S.M.A.R.T goal acronym explain how the goals you have established for the client to fit the SMART model.
  • Use clear and concise grammar.

Scenario A:

Sally is ten years old and has outbursts at school that include verbal aggression towards teachers and the destruction of physical property. This behavior occurs daily.

Scenario B:

Marion is 50 years old and is socially isolated. She does not work and rarely interacts with other people. She feels lonely.

Scenario C:

David is 40 years old and recently divorced. Three weeks ago, he was laid off from his job of ten years. He is looking for work and struggling financially.

Based on your own experiences shopping at Target and Walmart and the research you conducted:

Identify 1-2 strengths Target has in comparison to Walmart. For each strength, explain your rationale.

Based on your own experiences shopping at Target and Walmart and the research you conducted:

Conduct a SWOT analysis for your company and one of its biggest competitors using the methodology outlined in Steps 1-6.

Write a research paper concerning this scenario: You have been charged with the development of a Crisis Management Plan for the real or hypothetical health care organization that you chose earlier in this course. 

Your research should be based on the following criteria:

  • Select a real or hypothetical crisis, such as a natural disaster (hurricane, tornado, flooding, or earthquake), a catastrophic building failure, or an act of terrorism. 
  • Discuss resource management based on ethical approaches used during crisis management. 
    • Consider issues such as patient triage or current as well as incoming patients, supply, and personnel availability. 
  • Discuss and develop an authoritative chain of command for crisis management. 
    • Include such responsibilities as Incident Commander, Communications Officer, and other members of the chain of command for the incident. 
  • Discuss the importance and implementation of community communication, involvement, and coordination. 
  • Discuss the necessary policies for personnel management and safety. 
    • Include provisions for lock-down status and family communication abilities. 
  • Outline the steps for supply chain management, both for personnel and the supplies needed to provide care.

Compare the culture of your current employer (or last employer, if not currently employed) to Demings’s Quality Principles:

The Zain CEO and HR department used specific strategies to align people with the other strategic business units in Zain (Munene,2012). Select one strategy employed and evaluate its impact on this alignment given the economic, cultural, and HR context in Uganda. Then reflect on why it can be challenging for the HR function to align people with the other strategic business units in a corporation.
