Review and Reflection of Business Ethics.

Review and reflect on what you learned in the past 8 weeks. What is the most practical and easily applied lesson you learned? What was the hardest to grasp? Why? How will you incorporate the self-awareness you have gained within this course into your current ethical practices? What else do you need to know about ethics for your future? Please correlate your thoughts to the readings from the chapter and one your personal ethics assessment results. You are encouraged to share some specific examples of your assessment results to support your opinion. However, if you would like to keep your results private, you can speak to your results in general terms.

Understanding Social Change

Understanding Social Change

As Weinstein explains in our text on Social Change, our contemporary understanding regarding social change is that it may be intentional or it may be unintentional. In other words, individuals or social movements can intentionally cause social change (either progressive or regressive). It is equally true that unintended changes in society can result from environmental changes, migrations of people responding to war, climate change, cultural clashes, and urbanization.

  1. Drawing from your readings, discuss one example of intended or unintended progressive social change and one example of intended or unintended regressive social change.
  2. In light of the probability that there will always be proponents of change as well as persons seeking to maintain the status quo, discuss how human services professionals may play a role in advancing progressive social change or regressive social change.

Keeping Job Performance and Commitment High

As a managerial new hire and amidst the changes to come at Virginia Meats Inc., you will need to understand how to increase and maintain job performance and commitment during this transition and thereafter. Following upon week one’s Memo, the CEO Daniel Chinn now wants to gauge your understanding and preparedness to do this. Using the same Memo Format as in week one, answer in the follow-up questions for the CEO:

Directions:

1. By FRIDAY, complete the following:

Explain your understanding of job performance and why it is important to a sustainable organization.

  • In week 1, you envisioned the future direction towards which Virginia Meats Inc. needs to move. Given your knowledge of the company history and current status from the company profile, identify three areas that might challenge the employee’s performance as they move towards this goal. Be specific as to types of performance.

Explain your understanding of job commitment and why it is important to a sustainable organization.

  • Given the future vision of Virginia Meats Inc., its history and current status from the company profile, identify three areas that might challenge the employee’s commitment as they move towards this goal. Be specific as to types of commitment.

Discuss how your role as manager relates to job performance and commitment. How will this role be challenged in the future workplace? Give three examples.

You must use course material to support your responses and APA in-text citations with a reference list.

2. THROUGHOUT the week, complete the following:

  • Respond to your classmates three or more days throughout the week. Remember you are trying to develop the best answers to the questions as possible. Your classmates are doing the same so read the posts carefully looking for the best ideas being presented.  The goal is that by the end of the week the class will come to some consensus as to the best answers giving you the chance to submit the best ideas in the final post.
  • You must use course material to support your responses but you do not need to use APA in the brainstorming discussion with the exception of Friday’s initial first impression post.
  • Participation is worth 2.5 points each week (20% of the final grade). Participation must be reflected in the final post so grades will be affected by the content portion of the post if participation is not shown. Therefore, it is important to get in the class often and with the idea of improving your initial post with the discussion so that the final grade will be the best you can deliver.

3. FINAL POST, complete the following:

  • Attach your final post in the classroom by Monday at 11:59 p.m. ET.
  • The final post must reflect the brainstorming activities and should be different than your Friday initial post.
  • The final post must include a variety of sources from the class material as well as the use of scenario or case study facts where appropriate.
  • It must USE APA in-text citations and reference list.

Brainstorming is a technique that seeks to collect a myriad of ideas about a problem in an effort to find a unique and often innovative way of handling the solution. It can also be a way of collecting information about a situation or produce feedback about a particular topic. Brainstorming works very simply with only three rules: No idea is too far fetched, all ideas are to be accepted by the group for consideration, and the ideas must focus on the topic presented for discussion not whether the idea will work or not. Obviously, many ideas will be discounted later on when constraints like budget or implementation impossibilities may block its consideration for successful implementation. However, for the purpose of this discussion focus only on suggesting ideas from the class material and research which will answer the topic under discussion. Assignment 1-8110

Submit: Annotation of a Quantitative Research Article

This week, you will submit the annotation of a quantitative research article on a topic of your interest. Quasi-experimental, casual comparative, correlational, pretest–posttest, or true experimental are examples of types of research designs used in quantitative research.

An annotation consists of three separate paragraphs that cover three respective components: summary, analysis, and application. These three components convey the relevance and value of the source. As such, an annotation demonstrates your critical thinking about, and authority on, the source. This week’s annotation is a precursor to the annotated bibliography assignment due in Week 10.

An annotated bibliography is a document containing selected sources accompanied by a respective annotation of each source. In preparation for your own future research, an annotated bibliography provides a background for understanding a portion of the existing literature on a particular topic. It is also a useful first step in gathering sources in preparation for writing a subsequent literature review as part of a dissertation.

Please review the assignment instructions below and click on the underlined words for information about how to craft each component of an annotation.

Please use the document “Annotated Bibliography Template with Example” for additional guidance.

It is recommended that you use the grading rubric as a self-evaluation tool before submitting your assignment.

  • Annotate one quantitative research article from a peer-reviewed journal on a topic of your interest.
  • Provide the reference list entry for this article in APA Style followed by a three-paragraph annotation that includes:
  • Format your annotation in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced. A separate References list page is not needed for this assignment.

Ensuring an Ethical Workplace

Access Walmart’s Global Statement of Ethics and identify the key stakeholders and their corresponding responsibilities (pages 5-7). Assume you are the Chief Ethics Officer for Walmart responsible for enforcing the company’s ethics policy. Identify 2-3 methods or measures your team might incorporate to ensure all stakeholder responsibilities are met.

The Modern Health Care Leader Submission

Effective leaders can use their emotions in a positive way to benefit their organization, its employees, and stakeholders. Dye and Garman (2006) state, “The most effective leaders have a deeper understanding of their emotion” (p. 18), in their discussion of emotional intelligence (EI) and why it is important.

Over the last several years, organizations that are actively engaged in leadership development have expressed keen interest in understanding EI. Research suggests that EI may be more important than intellectual intelligence in determining leadership success, and leadership development programs may offer better outcomes if EI is better understood (Sadri, 2012).

  • Write a paper that defines and describes emotional intelligence.
  • Additionally, detail the value of EI possession among health care leaders.
  • Provide at least 1 example, real or hypothetical, of how emotional intelligence has been or can be used by effective leaders.
