Buyer Behavior Application

Buyer behavior is at the core of marketing. All marketing programs need to begin with an understanding of why and how consumers buy what they do. If no one purchases a company’s product or service, the company will quickly go out of business.

Apply the model of consumer behavior (Exhibit 11 on page 89 of your textbook) to the product/service you selected in Module 1. Explain how the model affect the purchase process as it relates to the product/service.

Providing a list of the steps or a graphic of the model is not adequate, you should explain how the process works in the real world using your own words supported by research.

You must use at least two articles from the Trident Online Library’s online databases (Academic Search Complete, Business Source Complete and/or ProQuest Central). The focus of this assignment is application and critical thinking. Since you are engaging in research, be sure to cite and reference the sources in APA format. The paper should be written in third person; this means words like “I,” “we,” and “you” are not appropriate. For more information see Differences Between First and Third Person.

See the Student Guide to Writing a High-Quality Academic Paper, including pages 13 and 14 on in-text citations. Another resource is the “Writing Style Guide,” which is found under “My Resources” on the TLC portal. All research should be cited in the body of the paper. In-text citations and corresponding references should be included in your paper. The use of direct quotes is strongly discouraged.

Anti-Racism

What does “white anti-racist” mean? How can guilt get in the way? And what’s all this talk about being “colorblind”? Teaching Tolerance asked community activists to share their thoughts on these questions, and others. Their answers shine light on the concepts of comfort, power, privilege and identity.

Read the following panel discussion on race and social justice, and then address the following discussion questions.

1.  Guilt and white privilege, these activists say, can sometimes get in the way of white people being effective allies in the struggle against racism. What qualities or actions can help white people be effective allies?

2.  The activists all reject the idea of “colorblindness.” Many people contribute the “goal” of colorblindness to a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Was Dr. King advocating that people ignore color? Ignore racism? Why?

Which of the following do you feel is the best approach when dealing with foreign bribery? Why?

  • thical Relativism: There are no universal or international rights and wrongs; it all depends on a particular culture’s values and beliefs.
  • Ethical Absolutism: You follow your own cultural values no matter where you are.
  • Ethical Universalism: There are fundamental principles of right and wrong which transcend cultural boundaries and MNEs must adhere to these values.

Which of these ethical viewpoints might choose to criminalize foreign bribery? Do you think that is an appropriate strategy?

crisis management application

Application: Role and Value of Evaluation

The United Nations, the American Red Cross, and other international disaster response organizations worked together to care for the trauma survivors after a series of four devastating hurricanes smashed into Haiti one after another, before communities had time to regroup from the previous ones. Then the 2010 massive earthquake struck the island. The poverty in Haiti complicated responder effectiveness and may have compounded survivor trauma because residents had few resources. While back to back disasters may make it difficult to evaluate crisis management plans, they point to the importance of learning what worked and what went wrong.

Once a disaster has occurred, the evaluation process includes a review of what was effective in the response as well as what was not effective. Learning and improved insights from a disaster can require making strategic changes in an organization or community. Last week you encountered new procedures for disaster transportation recovery, such as design-build, that can change the manner in which communities recover from disasters. Organizations can take a lesson from this change in thinking and creativity and look at innovative practices for strategic planning and recovery. Therefore, evaluation is a key element in crisis management planning and recovery.

To prepare for this assignment:

  • Review Chapter 17 in your course text, Crisis Intervention Strategies, focusing on systems overviews and the Principles of a Crisis Intervention Ecosystem. Consider the value of ongoing plan evaluation.
  • Review the Appendix and Chapters 5 and 9 in your course text, Crisis Management in the New Strategy Landscape, focusing on organizational learning and evaluation of crisis management plans.
  • Review the article, “Program Evaluation: The Accountability Bridge Model for Counselors.” Consider how counselors can use program evaluation to enhance accountability to stakeholders.
  • Review recent crises and/or disasters online and think about what can be learned about crisis management from them.

The assignment: (2-3 pages)

  • Provide an analysis of the role and value of evaluation as part of a crisis management plan. Provide specific examples to illustrate your arguments.

Social Media and Your Brand

Instruction

  • In the 21st century, there are few people who do not have an established social media presence.  This is part of your brand. Establishing a brand that is attractive to potential employers is a crucial step in the job search process. Your presence on social media accounts can help or hurt your job search.
    • Consider your presence on social media, whether personal or professional.
      • Describe one element of your social media presence that you can use to support the brand you want your potential employers to see. How does this element demonstrate the elements of P.R.I.C.E or some soft skills? Support your response with at least one external resource.
      • Describe one element of your social media presence that could negatively affect the impression potential employers have of you (your brand). How does this element impair your goal to present yourself as a professional?
    • Describe two tasks you can perform to strengthen and/or improve your brand using social media. Support your response with at least one external resource.
      • For each task, describe how completing it would help you in your job search activities.
      • For each task, discuss any barriers you might anticipate while completing it.

Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.

HR

The global pandemic we are facing today is prompting a rise in union organizing. Take a look at this article and video and then do a bit of research: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2020/04/28/coronavirus-labor-movement-we-cant-go-back-way-things-were/3042780001/.

Tell us why employees are turning to unions more today and how union representation might help them. Then tell us – if you were an HR leader in an organization that was facing an organizing campaign today fueled by some of these concerns, what changes would you recommend that your employer make to help protect and support employees and why.

Support your answers with articles from legitimate sources (no think tanks, please).
