human resource management

n your initial post, choose a theory of motivation (Theory X/Y, Maslow’s Need Hierarchy, Acquired Needs Theory, Self-determination theory, Herzberg’s motivator-hygiene theory). Then, think of a behavior at work (or at school), either positive or negative. Does the theory of motivation you selected adequately explain the behavior? Why or why not? Connect the theory and its constructs to the example in detail.

Then, respond to 2 other colleagues. In each response, assume the role of a manager (or of a teacher, if at school) and describe ways that you could inspire or improve motivation – and consequently change the behavior – by applying one of these intrinsic motivation theories.

Homework Question

Describe a difficult conversation you were involved in or one that you witnessed. In your main post, describe the following details:

  • Describe the conversation techniques used (if any).
  • Explain your interpretation of the conversation.
  • Propose how the conversation could have been better managed to make it less difficult and more productive.
  • Describe the outcome.
