Assessment 5

• Determine a new market for an existing product and submit your concept in the form of a 15- to 20-slide Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.

Creatively meeting the needs of customers is an important aspect of any businesses. Finding new customers for an existing product is one variable that can make a company successful. This assessment provides an opportunity for you to put consumer behavior theories into practice using a real-life example.

• Questions to Consider

To deepen your understanding, you are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of the business community.

• Many companies are good at creating more efficient versions of existing products but often have trouble generating new products that are innovative and fit with changing consumer interests. Consider the following questions as they apply to a company for which you have worked or currently work: o How could management staff in the company encourage the creation of new products that fit customers’ needs?o What are specific changes or improvements the company could make to better determine customer wants and needs?o What are practical examples of how management staff could adjust the organization so that new product ideas could become a reality within the organization? Obviously, money is always an issue for companies. Hence, considering the company’s size, think of reasonable ways the company could spur innovation.

• Assessment Instructions

Your presentation should comply with the following format and style requirements. Tutorials for using Microsoft PowerPoint are available in the Supplemental Resources in the left navigation menu.

  • Discuss what emerging knowledge, skills, and abilities are required of today’s managers who have HR responsibilities.

HR issue paper

Issue Papers (50%) You will research and prepare a written analysis of two of the issues that you didn’t submit an analysis for (you can’t receive credit for both a paper and an analysis for the same issue). The paper must be a minimum of 5 full pages in length and no longer than 6 pages in length. No more than two pages of the paper can be based on the two articles related to the issue or any other information from the textbook. The paper must be single-spaced (not 1.15, which is the default setting for recent versions of Word) and printed using Times New Roman, size 12 font, with 1.25 inch margins on the side and 1 inch margins on the top and bottom (Office 2003 default in Margin settings in Page Layout on the Word header). Also, please do not use any space saving techniques such as adding extra space between paragraphs (the first sentence of each paragraph should be indented), using bulleted or numbered items, using sub-titles or footnotes, including diagrams or tables, or including your name/paper title at the top of any of the five – six pages. You will not receive full credit for a paper that has more than a few grammatical errors. Your grade on the paper will be reduced if you do not follow these technical requirements. In addition, you must attach a cover page that includes the topic you have chosen and a page of references at the end of your paper (the cover page and reference page do not count toward the 5 page requirement). You must use at least four references in addition to the two textbook articles and none of the references should be other articles from the textbook. In your critique, you should include your identification and analysis of the central issues related to your topic, your evaluation of the alternative perspectives related to your topic, and a description of your current stance on the issue you have chosen. Please read the note regarding plagiarism in the class policies section of this syllabus. Your paper should be submitted to me as a Word attachment to either a Blackboard or email message. Information in the text of your paper must be properly cited using the method that is used in The Benefits of Globalization: An Economic Perspective (pp. 210 – 214) in the textbook. Do not include any footnotes at the bottom of any of the five – six pages of your analysis. In preparing the paper you should avoid using more than three direct quotes and no quote should be longer than two sentences. While you may submit your paper at any time before the due date, the deadline for submitting your first paper is October 9 and the deadline for your second paper is December 4. You do not have to wait until the deadlines to submit your papers.

Due Friday by 4 pm

For this assignment you want to  reread the client case study presented on the Course  Project Introduction page located in Module  01.

The final assignment for your  course project is a reflection. In a one to two page paper, consider the  process of creating a case file on the Norris family. Discuss each piece of the  project and your reaction to them, explaining how your applied communication  skills developed as you “worked” with the family. Include any  challenges you discovered and ways you hope to improve your communication  skills when working with future clients.

Week 4 Discussion

Review the following lecture:

Before beginning work on this discussion forum, please review the link “Doing Discussion Questions Right” and any specific instructions for this topic.

Before the end of the week, begin commenting on at least two of your classmates’ responses. You can ask technical questions or respond generally to the overall experience. Be objective, clear, and concise. Always use constructive language, even in criticism, to work toward the goal of positive progress. Submit your responses in the Discussion Area.

Introduction

By the due date assigned, respond to the assigned discussion questions and submit your responses to the appropriate topic in this Discussion Area. Respond to the assigned questions using the lessons and vocabulary found in the reading.

Select any one of the following starter bullet point sections. Review the important themes within the sub-questions of each bullet point. The sub-questions are designed to get you thinking about some of the important issues. Your response should provide a succinct synthesis of the key themes in a way that articulates a clear point, position, or conclusion supported by research. Select a different bullet point section than what your peers have already posted so that we can engage in several discussions on relevant topics. If all of the bullet points have been addressed, then you may begin to reuse the bullet points with the expectation that varied responses continue.

Tasks

Question 1:

Evaluate the coaching styles, their correlation to the employee performance, and expected outcomes.

Question 2:

To support your work, use your course and textbook readings and also use the South University Online Library. As in all assignments, cite your sources in your work and provide references for the citations in APA format.

Your initial posting should be addressed at 500–1000 words as noted in the attached PDF. Submit your document to this Discussion Area by the due date assigned. Be sure to cite your sources using APA format.

Project Stage 3

Complete this portion using the information in the attached Proposal.  Come up with interview questions for Toni Preckwinkle and answer them according to research you do on the policy I provided.

Thank you,

Treshana

Introduction: This course includes a staged project in which you will evaluate a public policy as identified in the Staged Project 1: Proposal. This project should involve interviewing those affected by the policy. This will reveal gaps between the public agency and the public and prepare you for applying the public value scorecard. By Module 3 you should conduct the interview(s) and summarize your findings.

Instructions: As part of your public policy evaluation, you are expected to interview a member of the community impacted by the policy or representatives of a community group impacted by the policy. Summarize your interview here.

Your summary should include:

  1. Who you interviewed and their position in the community impacted by the policy
  2. The context of the interview, such as time, date, and place
  3. What was discussed in the interview
  4. Significant findings or responses from the interviewee
  5. Your reflections on the interview, including how it informs your view of the policy you are examining
  6. A list of the questions you asked

Submission: There is no set length for this component of the project, but expect the body of the summary to be three to four pages (750-1,000 words) in length.

standard test review

Although standardized tests are widely used today in America’s schools, many may not be aware of how these tests are created.

Your course text the explains the general process of developing a standardized test. For this assignment, your task is to use the information provided in your text to create a flowchart, which is a type of diagram used to visually represent some kind of process. These flowcharts can be made using Word or PowerPoint. Your flowchart will need to represent each of the steps required to develop a standardized test, and for each of the steps you will need to include a graphic of some type and compose a paragraph describing what happens at that point in the process. You can either include the paragraphs in your flowchart if space/design permits, or you can include the descriptions on a separate piece of paper, but be sure to include the important terminology associated with each.

In addition to the paragraphs for your flowchart, include an another paragraph describing what standardized test used in public schools in your state/local area, along with a short description of it. You might find it helpful to begin your research on your state’s department of education website.

APA requirements for this assignment are as follows: Title page (no headings need to be included); pages numbered; overall APA formatting with one inch margins, double spacing, and recommended font; reference page with correct information if you use something other than the Bible or your textbook for this course.
