HR

Overview

You have been tasked with developing a recruiting and hiring plan for CapraTek’s new sales representative position.

Preparation

Review the CapraTek: Candidate Selection and CapraTek: Job Analysis simulations (linked in the Resources) as well as other course resources, including O*NET Online, to support your analysis in the development of your plan.

Description

Include the following in your recruiting and hiring plan for HR leadership:

  • Write a description of the job requirements. This can be a brief description based on O*Net OnLine and other resources used in your job analysis.
  • Develop the competency model for a sales representative position. Should candidates possess these competencies prior to hiring, or would they be trained after hiring?
  • Analyze the current labor market for the position.
    • You can assume any geographic location you choose for this analysis, but include where the job will be located and any demographic data for females and minorities.
  • Create a selection plan for the sales representative position. Include at least five screening methods such as interviews and forms of testing. How does technology impact these screening methods?
  • Assess the impact of the legal environment for CapraTek’s staffing. What role does the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures have?
  • Recommend the top candidates to interview. Select three from the pool of 20 candidates within the CapraTek simulations.

Your CapraTek Recruiting and Hiring Plan should demonstrate graduate-level writing skills through the accurate communication of thoughts that support a central idea and use of correct grammar and mechanics as expected of a human resources professional.

Requirements

  • References: Support your analysis with at least 2 academic, scholarly, or professional resources
  • Format: Resources and citations are formatted according to current APA style and format.
  • Length: 8–10 pages, in addition to the references page.

Dashboards and scorecards are different communications tools that project teams may use.

  • Explain what each is and compare dashboards and scorecards.
  • Evaluate their benefits and disadvantages for project status communication.
  • Include examples from your experience or discuss scorecards and dashboards with a project manager to find examples of both in practice.

Public Policy and Response to Social Change

Public Policy and Response to Social Change

Discuss three models for the development of public policy (public choice, group theory, and elite theory) and the suitability of each model for human services. Recognizing that community opinion, informed small groups, or the political elite may be the dominant source of social problem identification, make a judgement about the best source on which to rely, depending on the subject matter. Draw on your reading of Simon’s Public Policy text, Chapter 2 when considering your analysis of whether one or another of the models is most suitable.

Job Discerption

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND THE ADDITIOANL INFORMATION IN THE FILE SECTION: In this assignment, you are conducting a needs assessment and developing two job descriptions for your current organization or a preapproved organization that you have access to interact with, in order to complete this assignment. If you are not currently in an organization, please inform your instructor of the organization you will use to complete this project. They must approve your selection prior to beginning your assignment and you must have the ability to observe employees and functions within that organization.

Needs Assessment

Observe and assess the state of your current organization, or another pre-selected organization. A needs assessment is necessary to identify areas for potential growth, both at the employee and organizational level. If you are not in a position to look holistically at your organization, you can focus on a department or team within the organization. Use the “Needs Assessment Matrix” resource to complete your needs assessment. You are required to analyze required functions, department or employment needs, jobs or tasks, and current trainings in order to complete your matrix and prepare for the next part of this assignment.

Job Descriptions

Once your needs assessment is complete, you are required to select an existing position in your organization and develop a one-page detailed job description for that position that is informed by the findings of the needs assessment. It is recommended that you take the time to conduct a job analysis and observe current employees in the selected positions to accurately depict the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics that must be incorporated into the job description. If you are unable to observe, do your best to accurately depict the specific functions of the job. Incorporate any new job roles you feel should be added to the position based on your findings. Make sure the job description is based on the needs and available resources of the organization, and that it adheres to all applicable labor laws.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Human Resources Management 9

Your company promoted you to a management position in a new research facility in India. Surprisingly, you have adjusted to the new culture, language, and city, despite never having lived outside the country before. You arrive to work early to get a jump start on your day and notice on the payroll report that there are a few employees who have taken an occasional three-day weekend. None of the employees have taken a full week off, however. You know from previous management training classes that overworked employees are more prone to stress-related health issues and less safe at work. You must also consider the company’s bottom line. You want your employees to take more time off work to enjoy time with friends and family, but how? Please respond to the following questions:

  • Which motivational theory or theories do you think would help communicate the importance of vacation time to your employees?
  • How would you convince your employees that taking time off work is more beneficial in the long run for them and for the company?
