4. Interview a nurse educated in a diploma program at least 20 years ago.

a-How did that nurse’s education differ from your education today? 

5. Locate the website of a professional organization related to nursing. Bring a copy of the organization’s mission, membership criteria, and standards of practice. 

6. Ask five people of different ages and gender who do not work in the health-care field what they think most nurses do. Compile their answers with the answers your classmates collected and summarize them. Compare the summary to what you know nurses actually do.

Provide examples and/or differential diagnoses within each condition.  For example, different types of glomerulonephritis or different causes of pyelonephritis. About BUN, which things can alter the value and that tells us the value of BUN over kidney function. On acute and chronic renal failure what is prognosis for the patient, what conditions can lead to this picture and how the patient can be removed from that clinical picture.

For this assignment, you will be creating a PowerPoint presentation about popular culture and this year’s Word of the Year.  Look up Oxford Dictionaries’ most recent Word of the Year and consider the cultural influences and events that drove this word selection.  What events are related to this word and what are their significance?  How does this word present itself in your own thoughts, experiences, and beliefs?  What is the connection between the “Word of the Year” and the concept of Popular Culture?

Specifications:

Submission: A 10-12 slide PowerPoint presentation or Prezi to address the questions posed above. Include speaker notes or a voice-over, images, and videos where applicable.  If you choose the voice-over option, you will upload your recording web link (URL). 

In your presentation:

• Clearly explain the meaning of the Word of the Year.
• Provide 4-5 examples of cultural events that led up to or evolved from this word usage.  
• Reflect on thoughts, experiences, and beliefs regarding this word’s usage in society and your own life.
• Provide speaker’s notes or a voice over on the PowerPoint to accompany each slide.  If you choose speaker’s notes, the total word count of your notes should be 750-1000 words.  If you choose to create a voice-over recording your presentation should be 4-6 minutes long.
• Include a title slide and include your references page in APA format on the last slide of the presentation.

Essay 1

Sophocles’ Antigone: Discuss the ethical implications of Creon’s decree. Examine each argument that he has with Antigone, Haemon, and Teiresias. Make certain that you have a thesis in which you state what you think of Creon’s decree.

Parameters: APA style and format. Must cite the story in your text and with an end reference in APA format. No other sources besides the story are needed. If you choose to use an outside source, you must cite it. 700 word minimum.

Write a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:

• Explain how the factor you selected might influence the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes in the patient from the case study you were assigned.
• Describe how changes in the processes might impact the patient’s recommended drug therapy. Be specific and provide examples.
• Explain how you might improve the patient’s drug therapy plan and explain why you would make these recommended improvements.
