However, by discussing termination throughout therapy, you can better prepare your clients for life without you. Discussion: Is the EU Closing the Gap on Health Inequities?

The World Health Organization and European Union (EU) DETERMINE Consortium has acknowledged gaps in health equities within and between member countries. A variety of efforts are underway to help close those gaps.

To prepare for this Discussion, review your Learning Resources, particularly the readings from the DETERMINE Consortium and European Commission and the National Social Marketing Centre video programs. Select two EU countries on which to focus (It is advised to select two countries from the list of EU members and avoid repeating the same ones mentioned in the required media of this week resources). Look at efforts in those countries designed to reduce health inequities and inequality and examine appropriate outcomes for those efforts. Evaluate the performance of the health systems in those countries as reflected in population health data for each of the countries. Be sure to access the CIA country profiles (found within the CIA World Factbook) and WHO websites provided earlier for the most current resources.

Post a brief comparison of the health status of the two EU countries you selected with that of the U.S. Then, describe two efforts in those EU countries to reduce health inequities. Explain what lessons can be learned from the EU efforts you selected that can be implemented in the U.S. nationally or by individual states. Wait Times

The Institute of Medicine defines quality as “the degree to which health services for individuals and populations increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes and are consistent with current professional knowledge”. Waiting to obtain an appointment with your MD or sitting for long periods in the Emergency Room can have negative health effects.

You open your social media app and you see a story on your timeline from your local news station that stated the following: Deaths due to long wait times

At Memorial hospital (inpatient and outpatient services), wait times to be seen for the emergency room (ER) and for primary care exceed quality standards. The wait times could range between three to four hours at the ER and an hour or two to be seen at the primary care clinic. Appointments to see a surgeon for surgical procedures are booking out weeks, unfortunately leading to deaths. Because of this, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is sending a team to conduct an audit. One possible result of the visit could be a reduction or loss of federal funding. Your job is to write a report that lead to a positive outcome for the hospital.

  11. My brother is a great Jayvee football quarterback, my older red-headed sister is a cheerleader complete with red pom-poms, and I play cymbals and drums in the school pep band, so we are usually very tied up in school activities soon after school starts.
  12. That dog can open the refrigerator and grab a can of soda!
  13. I really enjoy the pep band; it’s fun to get all dressed up in my red band uniform and beat those shiny drums during a game.
  14. Our big dog needs to stay at home with the cat because he attracts sand and fleas.
  15. On one hand, it is hard to get everything ready for the day trip; on the other hand, nobody in our family wants to miss such a day of fun.
  16. My brother thinks he is smarter and more well-dressed than the rest of us because he is the oldest.
  17. For example, cats can be really pretty, but they don’t seem to love everyone in the family.
  18. At the end of a great day of flying kites, chasing each other around the lagoon, and eating great junk food, we all go home extremely tired and extremely happy.

  20. My family comes in all shapes, ages, sizes, and hair colors, but no matter what we look like, we ALL love to eat.
  21. As night falls and my father drives the old beat-up car towards home, most of us finish up the cheese sandwiches and chips and doze off after a day of fun.
