1. You are a nurse caring for a 58-year-old ironworker who has been admitted to your unit with acute hypertension. He became extremely symptomatic at work and was brought to your emergency department (ED) via ambulance. After receiving a report from the ED nurse, he is brought to your unit asymptomatic (other than his BP of 178/106) and seems in good spirits. After completing his admission paperwork, he settles in and awaits his health care provider. Four hours later, you answer his call light and he reports headache (rated 6 on a 0-to-10 scale) and dizziness. 
a. Outline the pertinent information within this case study.

2. As a nurse in a critical care unit, your newest admission is a 24-year-old victim of a motor vehicle accident (MVA). Report from the OR nurse indicates that the patient has several surgically repaired fractures, a closed head injury, and elevated temperature. Additionally, he has IV fluid running postoperatively and dressing changes scheduled every shift. The patient is intermittently alert and disoriented, with his pain adequately controlled by IV analgesics. 
a. Outline the pertinent information within this case study.
b. What factors could be causing the patient’s elevated body temperature?
c. Why is determining the fever’s cause important?
d. Indicate areas that are important to monitor in a patient with elevated body temperature.

Although controversial art is not a topic exclusive to the 20th and 21st centuries, the distribution of information regarding controversial art has increased with the proliferation of media. Choose an example of a controversial work of art from the 20th or 21st centuries from any discipline of the humanities (music, literature, sculpture, film, television, etc.). Then, address the following:

• Identify the work and the medium.
• Based on your example, to what extent does this work of controversial art make a social contribution?

Barbara receives an email from her manager asking about the progress of the strategic plan. The manager informs Barbara that UCCO is wanting to implement a new electronic health record (EHR), to improve the overall process of providing quality patient care; and organizational challenges. After her discussion, Barbara realizes that she would need to complete a situational analysis. By performing a situational analysis, planners can help anticipate and manage change. Understanding the internal and external environment is also critical to an effective strategic plan. For the external environment, planners look at opportunities and threats. For the internal environment, planners look at strengths and weaknesses.

For this project assignment on UCCO, complete a minimum of a 1-2 page report and two SWOT tables to describe key opportunities, threats, strengths, and weaknesses in selecting an electronic record system. Your written report should address the following concepts:

When researching information, many, as have I, use Google scholar and the Internet for obtaining articles and information relevant to the topic of choice. After looking over many databases, there is a noticeable difference in information and resources that are available depending on what is used. The two database engines that seem relevant in providing support towards my capstone project proposal are PubMed and Cochrane library. PubMed is one source that is free and gives users access to millions of published articles related to health and biomedicine (GCU, n.d.). Biomedicine is useful in nursing and will be for the capstone project because it applies principles of biology and biochemistry to health research and practice. This is important as it gives health professionals supportive and evidence-based data to guide them during care. PubMed provides citations for articles, and additional database such as MEDLINE, PMC, NIH, and NCBI. In addition, Grand Canyon University shares the Cochrane library, which has high quality information that can help health professionals make relevant and sound decisions, using one of the six databases or groups it comprises (GCU, n.d.). For the use of the proposal, Cochran library will provide me with controlled trials, economy, technology, and reviews of relevant health sources. Together they make up strong collab for executing an assignment or goal. Although using common Internet search engines can be useful, they may provide articles that are or may not be scholarly, are opinion based, commercial, conflicted funded, or not supported by evident sources.

When doing research to develop an evidence-based practice project proposal, it is imperative that your data comes from reputable databases that give dependable research for your proposal. Peer reviewed and critically appraised articles from an creditable database ensures that your research is valid. Using Google Scholar or another website source does not provide the same credibility. According to Rada, (2020) Google Scholar is not a valid source because it is not a reliable way to filter current best evidence from unsubstantiated or non-scientifically supervised sources (Rada, 2020.)

The Grand Canyon library has a wide range of databases to use for my Capstone project. I like the CINAHL and Cochrane Library databases for my project. I choose CINAHL because it is a research tool for health professionals containing access to nursing and other health journals and articles. This database covers information to help numerous health specialties in their research (CINAHL, 2020). I feel it will offer different perspectives and multi-disciplinary views of the problem that I am proposing to change.

The other database that I will use is the Cochrane Library. It provides a collection of databases containing different types of high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making (Cochrane Library, 2020). Both library databases make valuable information more accessible, to be used in decision making (GCU, 2019).

Evidence-based nursing is a process founded on the collection, interpretation, appraisal, and integration of valid, clinically significant, and applicable research. It is not about developing new knowledge or validating existing knowledge, but rather translating existing evidence so that it can be applied to clinical decision making. This process starts with formulating a sound PICO question. PICO is a format for developing a good clinical research question prior to starting a review or research. It is a mnemonic used to describe the four elements of a sound clinical foreground question. 

Scenario:

A 17-year-old African American woman, just diagnosed with hepatitis B, has been taking acetaminophen for headaches. Her mother has heard that acetaminophen can cause liver problems, and she asks you if her daughter should continue taking the drug for her headaches, considering her hep-b diagnosis.
