Healthcare organizations continually seek to optimize healthcare performance. For years, this approach was a three-pronged one known as the Triple Aim, with efforts focused on improved population health, enhanced patient experience, and lower healthcare costs.

More recently, this approach has evolved to a Quadruple Aim by including a focus on improving the work life of healthcare providers. Each of these measures are impacted by decisions made at the organizational level, and organizations have increasingly turned to EBP to inform and justify these decisions.

To Prepare:

• Read the articles by Sikka, Morath, & Leape (2015); Crabtree, Brennan, Davis, & Coyle (2016); and Kim et al. (2016) provided in the Resources.
• Reflect on how EBP might impact (or not impact) the Quadruple Aim in healthcare.
• Consider the impact that EBP may have on factors impacting these quadruple aim elements, such as preventable medical errors or healthcare delivery.

To Complete:

Write a brief analysis (no longer than 2 pages) of the connection between EBP and the Quadruple Aim.

Your analysis should address how EBP might (or might not) help reach the Quadruple Aim, including each of the four measures of:

Identify one person from the illness group you chose in Week 1(Week one assignment Attached) to interview. The person should not be a patient at the facility in which you work. You can use friends, family members, or coworkers. Do not use the person’s name in the paper, only initials.

In a Microsoft Word document of 4-5 pages formatted in APA style, describe/compile a report of your interview and the information collected about a person with a chronic illness. 

Administer the questionnaire you created in Week 1(Attached) to that person and address the following:

·  Compile the data and analyze the responses to better illustrate where this person, his or her family, and friends are in relation to accepting the diagnosis in relation to the standard health or illness definitions.

o  The analysis should also include coping skills, treatment, and support aspects of the illness.

·  Explain how this information will direct care plan development for the chosen illness group.

·  Include a copy of the interview you created with the responses from the person interviewed in an Appendix.

Distractions are everywhere. They may include cellphones, multiple alarms sounding, overhead paging, monitors beeping, and various interruptions that disrupt your clinical practice.

Give an example of an ethical or legal issue that may arise if a patient has a poor outcome or sentinel event because of a distraction such as alarm fatigue. What does evidence reveal about alarm fatigue and distractions in healthcare when it comes to patient safety?

Now that you have identified your health problem and your potential mini-grant funding source, beginning the process of developing your project concept. One of the best ways for doing so is to develop a concept paper. 

Read How to Write a Concept Paper for information on writing a one-page concept paper. After doing so, write your own one-page concept paper for the (hypothetical) project for which you will apply for a mini-grant.

NOTE: Keep in mind that the project you propose in your concept paper should have a basis in health behavior theory, so you will need to provide reference citations for scholarly material consulted in developing the document.
