Background

At the end of this Team Assignment you will submit a paper entitled, Report to the Board: What will be the Human Resources Priorities in 2025? All students will be assigned to teams that will prepare a final paper and presentation.

Prompted in part by the ideas presented for the technology innovation project, the Human Resources Committee of the Board of Directors has become increasingly concerned about the ability to identify, recruit, and retain the appropriate skill mix for the organization. The CEO has designated an interdisciplinary team and asked it to prepare an analysis of current trends and their impact on the organization’s human resources in 2025.

Team Report (20 Percentage Points)

The Team Report, using the 7th edition of the APA style manual, is to include two separate papers.

1.  Detailed Paper to be submitted to the CEO
2.  Briefing Paper to be delivered to the BOD

Detailed Paper

1.  Identifies and discusses the macro-trends affecting the future of the US healthcare system, including such aspects as the overall economy, demographics, personal lifestyles and behaviors, technology (including biotechnology and smart phones), and federal and state government policies. Note that these factors are neither exhaustive nor are they offered as a mandatory framework; your research will identify macro-trends relevant to your findings.
2.  Use the above analysis, identify five (5) career opportunities that healthcare leaders will have to be aware of, address, or pursue in 2025. Be sure to explicitly link each job opportunity with the specific trends identified in your analysis.
3.  A minimum of five (5) references to independent research journals, official government sources, or non-vested technical reports must be incorporated and cited using 7th edition of the APA style manual.
4.  Be sure to support your conclusions with appropriate source material. Conclusions are not just “your opinion.” Each conclusion must be clearly linked to eternally valid sources of information.
5.  Prepare your essay in MS Word with 1-inch margins on all sides, double-spaced and 12 pt. Times New Roman font; and upload it to the assignment folder. A title sheet, abstract, body of the paper, and reference list are all required for this paper. Please note that the 10 to 12 page limit applies to the body of the paper.

Briefing Paper

Overall, a Briefing Paper is usually one to two pages. However, some Briefs may be including many pages. There are no hard and fast rules regarding length. Similarly, the format of a Briefing Paper may consist of an outline, bullet lists, text, or a combination of text and bullets. Although, content or topics and their length can vary in a Brief. For the Team Project, make sure your Team’s Briefing Paper is responsive to the four points listed below. Do not be concerned with length. Thus, your Team should aim to provided complete responses in the fewest number of pages (i.e., 2 pages)

1. Background and Purpose of the Team Project (see 1 under Team Report, above)
2. Key Objectives or Questions to be Answered (see 2 under Team Report, above)
3. Major Findings and Conclusions
4. Recommendations and/or Action Steps

The Presentation Instructions (7 Percentage Points)

1.  Condense the findings of your paper to a brief presentation for delivery to the BOD.
2.  Much of today’s communication is done through a variety of electronic tools made available through the internet. E-mails, texting, interactive web sites, cloud technology (like Google Drive), video chats, and social media are all important in how we communicate. The challenge of your Presentation is to communicate the basic findings of your team’s paper to your classmates, your Professor, and your intended audience through the use of a virtual presentation tool; as if your Team was reporting your findings to a global audience of people located in thousands of different locations around the world.
3.  The Presentation must be designed to be “asynchronous.” This means, just like our Discussions Board, it can be viewed at any time as a self-contained presentation without the direct participation of any team member.
4.  While Prezi and Google Sites are specific examples of the kind of virtual tools your Team might use, each team is strongly encouraged to explore, experiment, and creatively use the best tool available for communicating their findings. Simply sending a recorded PowerPoint Presentation to everyone as an e-mail attachment will not meet the requirements for this assignment.

Group Therapy

 

Considering the depressing symptoms of your clients such as avoiding social contacts, missing classes etc, I believe Supportive Psychotherapy may also be a beneficial treatment option for the client. According to Wheeler (2014). Supportive Psychotherapy aims at strengthening defenses, promoting problem solving skills,restoring adaptive functioning .and providing symptom relief. This approach encompass developmental assessment from past experiences (the painful death of grandmother for instance ) which has affected the client’s present functioning and progress essentially towards maladaptive behavior improvement.

There is little evidence about the effectiveness of Psychosocial treatment options for Adjustment Disorder due to its nature of maladaptiveness to stress response reaction. However these authors believe that adjustment disorder could be successfully treated with psychosocial interventions.

After his father suffered a heart attack last summer, Julio made some changes to his lifestyle to try to avoid his father’s fate. According to Burns (2018), three reasons to create a portfolio include self-promotion to show accomplishments, evidence of outcomes to display competencies, and structure and direction to describe professional goals. A nursing portfolio may contain several elements and can be tailored to emphasize top individual qualities and characteristics.

           These two strategies align with Walden University’s commitment to social change. The Academic Success and Professional Development Plan aligns with the social change emphasis when it includes areas for serving communities, building professions, and partnering with professional organizations (Laureate Education, 2018b). This plan helps translate a passion for social change into action steps that create social change. Walden University emphasizes the value of social change as well as the value of creating an academic e-portfolio. Students are more likely to create an academic e-portfolio when they understand the benefits (Ahmed & Ward, 2016). One of the benefits of academic e-portfolios is in connecting students with organizations that have a shared passion for a particular area of social change. For example, I can emphasize my passion for creating community resilience in my e-portfolio and send it to an organization that I know shares the same passion. An e-portfolio that illustrates a shared passion will likely give me a head-start in the interview process.

Change Theory and Models for Change Intervention

I selected a behavioral change theory as a framework to guide my practice problem intervention.  The Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) originated in the 1960s, has been used in past to guide clinical practice intervention in behavioral related changes (Chamberlain College of Nursing, 2020). For example, it has been used in smoking cessation, dieting, the use of seat belts, voting, breastfeeding, as well as HIV/AIDS intervention both in and outside the United States (Fishbein et al,1994 as cited in White et al., 2016).

The theory of reasoned action has four key components. They are behavior, intention, attitude, and norms (White et al., 2016). The theory is based on the belief that people are rational creatures and that their willingness to change behaviors have a lot to do with their conscious commitment. The following variables according to Fishbein et al, (1994 as cited in White et al., 2016) are interrelated; They are

1. Behavior – what is needed to happen so that the person understands what has to be done to achieve change.

2. Intention – The person’s readiness to change the behavior. That behavior change depends on the last two components attitude and norms.

3. Attitude – what are the approval and disapproval feeling the person may have about the behavior.

4. Norms (subjective)– How does that person who is about to undertaking that particular behavioral change believes others will feel about the behavior.

In this particular theory, there is no clear component for networking with the stakeholders during the phases of the practice changes. I was unable to find ways to evaluate the evidence. I was not able to identify any component for identifying nor addressing barriers to implementation. However, TRA has been implemented successfully in multiple clinical interventions to adopt healthy behavior. In a recent research study using TRA to understanding teen pregnancy in the American Indians communities, they found that the subject’s attitude about using birth control and the favorable or unfavorable opinions of others indicate whether or not these teenagers used contraceptives (Dippel et al., 2017).

For the practice intervention to be successful, the individuals have to be prepared to change their beliefs and attitudes towards obesity. The perspective participants, who are one of the key stakeholders in this project have to be vested in the plan. There need to be a desire to lost weight and work towards maintaining it. They also have to know that their support system, that is family and friends will be supportive throughout. For any change to occur, the door to communicating with all key stakeholders need to remain open throughout the implementing and evaluation phase of the practice change intervention and beyond.
