Health Promotion in Minority Population

Select an ethnic minority group that is represented in the United States (American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian American, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander). Using health information available from Healthy People, the CDC, and other relevant government websites, analyze the health status for this group.

In a paper of 1,000-1,250 words, compare and contrast the health status of your selected minority group to the national average. Include the following:

  1. Describe the ethnic minority group selected. Describe the current health status of this group. How do race and ethnicity influence health for this group?
  2. What are the health disparities that exist for this group? What are the nutritional challenges for this group?
  3. Discuss the barriers to health for this group resulting from culture, socioeconomics, education, and sociopolitical factors.
  4. What health promotion activities are often practiced by this group?
  5. Describe at least one approach using the three levels of health promotion prevention (primary, secondary, and tertiary) that is likely to be the most effective in a care plan given the unique needs of the minority group you have selected. Provide an explanation of why it might be the most effective choice.
  6. What cultural beliefs or practices must be considered when creating a care plan? What cultural theory or model would be best to support culturally competent health promotion for this population? Why?

Cite at least three peer-reviewed or scholarly sources to complete this assignment. Sources should be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and public health content.

Analyzing Parametric Statistics

Doctorate degree Nursing program

In your review of evidence, you locate a quasi-experimental research study as possible evidence to support a practice change. You notice that the study aims to make a prediction that relates to correlation between study variables. The study sample size is large and normally distributed. Reflect upon this scenario to address the following.

· In your appraisal of the evidence, you note that an independent variable is not present and that a Spearman’s ranked correlation is used to analyze data. Is this the correct level of correlational analysis? Explain your rationale.

· Are association and correlational analysis equivalent in determining relationships between variables?

· Do these findings impact your decision about whether to use this evidence to inform practice change? Why or why not?

Scope of Practice and Patient’s Healthcare Accessibility

  1. Discuss your state NP community in terms of scope of practice. Include the your state’s scope of practice for NPs including: . Be sure that you carefully address each part of the assigned discussion, in full, with cited scholarly sources to support your statements. at least two paragraph each     My state is Maryland
    • Level of independence of practice
    • Prescribing authority
    • Any limitations of practice
    • Process for obtaining licensure in your state
    • Certification and education requirements for licensure.
  2. If you live in a restricted or reduced practice state, how has patient care been impacted in your local community from these barriers?  For instance, is the ED used for primary care?  Are the EDs overcrowded with long wait times?  Are there urgent care clinics readily available? Is there adequate access to primary care?  If you live in a full practice, how has independent practice of the APN resulted in improved patient access to healthcare?
  3. How does access to NPs impacts any healthcare disparities?
  • Consider how patient care has been impacted in your local community by these practice barriers.
    • For instance, is the ED used for primary care?
    • Are the EDs overcrowded with long wait times?
    • Are there urgent care clinics readily available?
    • Is there adequate access to primary care?
    • Are your rural communities adequately served?
    • What healthcare limitations are present in your communities?
  • Consider how unrestricted, independent practice of the APRN resulted in improved patient access to healthcare?
  • Include in your discussion how access to NPs impacts any healthcare disparities.
    • Be sure you clearly understand the concept of “health disparities” as you address this portion of the discussion.

Health disparities are any difference in health outcomes between populations of people. Consider the impact of poverty, race, gender, disability etc. on various health outcomes. The goal of Healthy People 2020 was to eliminate health disparities and achieve health equity, thus improving health outcomes among all populations (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2020).

Healthy People 2020 (HP2020) defines health disparity as:

“a particular type of health difference that is closely linked with social, economic, and/or                  environmental disadvantage. Health disparities adversely affect groups of people who have          systematically experienced greater obstacles to health based on their racial or ethnic                        group; religion; socioeconomic status; gender; age; mental health; cognitive, sensory, or                  physical disability; sexual orientation or gender identity; geographic location; or other                     characteristics historically linked to discrimination or exclusion” (U.S. Department of                         Health and Human Services, 2020).

The HP 2020 definition of health equity is as follows:

“attainment of the highest level of health for all people. Achieving health equity requires                  valuing everyone equally with focused and ongoing societal efforts to address avoidable                 inequalities, historical and contemporary injustices, and the elimination of health and                       health care disparities” (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2020).

General Psychology

Module 05 General Psychology Credit by Assessment

Psychological principles are theories and beliefs about major areas of our lives, like cognitions, intelligence, social groups, habit, behavior, and many others. Let’s explore how we identify and utilize psychological principles in daily life. In a 2 page paper, please analyze the following:

  • How do psychological principles affect the study of the behavior of individuals and groups?
  • What are the parameters of behavioral deviance and its various therapies?
  • How do psychological principles affect the study of individual differences?
  • Last, explain the role of psychology in such areas as industry, complex organizations, law, and education.

This paper should be 2-3 pages in length and use APA formatting (cover page, paper body formatting, citations, and references: see Rasmussen’s APA guide in the Resources tab, or by clicking here. Respond to this discussion post

This change management model was created in the 1950s by psychologist Kurt Lewin. Lewin noted that the majority of people tend to prefer and operate within certain zones of safety. As a result, he recognized three stages of change as: unfreeze, transition, and refreeze. On the other hand, Everette Rogers modified Lewin’s change theory and created a five-stage theory of his own. The five stages are awareness, interest, evaluation, implementation and adoption. This theory is applied to long-term change projects. It is successful when nurses who ignored the proposed change earlier adopt it because of what they hear from nurses who adopted it initially (Kritsonis, 2015).

Below is a comparison of the two change theories;

Lewin’s Three-Step Change Theory vs. Rogers Change Theory.

Lewin’s Three-Step Change Theory is very rational, goal and plan oriented. It doesn’t take into account personal factors that can affect change. Also, the theory makes rational sense, but when implemented the lack of considering human feelings and experiences can have negative consequences. On the other hand, Roger’s theory is applied for long-term changes and the success of this theory is fully realized when the earlier resistant agents adopt the change and support it this is unlike Lewin’s theory where success is only realized if the driving forces dominate the resistant force (Watson, 2019).

Given that Rogers change theory promotes awareness of the change, encourages interest of implementation of EBP among the involved parties and appraise the achievement of pilot studies before the actual implementation, the theory makes sense in the implementation of my specific EBP in healthcare system.

Due tomorrow please help

Step 1 Explain three difficult concepts.

As you review the activities and the information presented in this lesson and the textbook, identify the three most difficult concepts (or parts of a concept) in respiratory anatomy and respiration for most anatomy and physiology students. Select one difficult concept from each of these topic areas:

  • Anatomy of the Respiratory System
  • Mechanics of Breathing
  • Respiration

Step 2 Write an explanation of each concept.

Write a clear one-paragraph explanation of each of these three concepts. Use images from the Internet or those that you scan into the document, if possible.  Your response should be a  500-word paper.
