week 10 Annotated Bibliography

  • Use the Walden library databases to search for quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research articles from peer-reviewed journals on your topic of interest.
  • The topic of my interest is smoking cessation
  • Before you read the full article and begin your annotation, locate the methodology section in the article to be sure that it describes the appropriate research design.
    • For quantitative research articles, confirm that a quantitative research design, such as a quasi-experimental, casual comparative, correlational, pretest–posttest, or true experimental, was used in the study.
    • For qualitative research articles, confirm that a qualitative research design or approach, such as narrative, ethnographic, grounded theory, case study, or phenomenology, was used in the study.
    • For mixed methods research articles, confirm that a mixed methods research (MMR) design was used in the study. There are several design classifications in MMR; some examples of MMR types or families of design are parallel, concurrent, sequential, multilevel, or fully integrated mixed methods design.
  • Prepare an annotated bibliography that includes the following:
    • A one-paragraph introduction that provides context for why you selected the six research articles you did: two quantitative, two qualitative, and two MMR.
    • A reference list entry in APA Style for each of the six articles that follows proper formatting. Follow each reference list entry with a three-paragraph annotation that includes:
    • A one-paragraph conclusion that presents a synthesis of the six articles.
  • Format your annotated bibliography in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced. A separate References list page is not needed for this assignment.

Fundamentals of Nursing

Vital Signs
1. You are a nurse caring for a 58-year-old ironworker who has been admitted to your unit with acute hypertension. He became extremely symptomatic at work and was brought to your emergency department (ED) via ambulance. After receiving a report from the ED nurse, he is brought to your unit asymptomatic (other than his BP of 178/106) and seems in good spirits. After completing his admission paperwork, he settles in and awaits his health care provider. Four hours later, you answer his call light and he reports headache (rated 6 on a 0-to-10 scale) and dizziness.
a. Outline the pertinent information within this case study.
b. How often would you expect to measure the patient’s vital signs based on his history?
c. What would be your first intervention upon his reporting increased symptoms? Include rationale.
d. What is the patient’s pulse pressure?
e. Describe risk factors that could be contributing to your patient’s hypertension.
2. As a nurse in a critical care unit, your newest admission is a 24-year-old victim of a motor vehicle accident (MVA). Report from the OR nurse indicates that the patient has several surgically repaired fractures, a closed head injury, and elevated temperature. Additionally, he has IV fluid running postoperatively and dressing changes scheduled every shift. The patient is intermittently alert and disoriented, with his pain adequately controlled by IV analgesics.
a. Outline the pertinent information within this case study.
b. What factors could be causing the patient’s elevated body temperature?
c. Why is determining the fever’s cause important?
d. Indicate areas that are important to monitor in a patient with elevated body temperature.
e. Describe cause-specific interventions useful in treating the patient’s elevated body temperature.

PLEASE, answer each question in order and separately. PLEASE,  this is the bibliography( Chapter 29-30).

Module 2 – SLP

MOBILIZING SUPPORT FOR HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Now that you have identified your health problem and your potential mini-grant funding source, beginning the process of developing your project concept. One of the best ways for doing so is to develop a concept paper.

Read How to Write a Concept Paper for information on writing a one-page concept paper. After doing so, write your own one-page concept paper for the (hypothetical) project for which you will apply for a mini-grant.

NOTE: Keep in mind that the project you propose in your concept paper should have a basis in health behavior theory, so you will need to provide reference citations for scholarly material consulted in developing the document.

Length: Please submit your one-page concept paper at the conclusion of this module

SLP Assignment Expectations

Assessment and Grading: Your paper will be assessed based on the performance assessment rubric that is linked within the course. Review it before you begin working on the assignment.

Your submission should meet the guidelines on file format, in-text citations and references, scholarly sources, scholarly writing, and use of direct quotes noted under Module 1 Assignment Expectations.

Assignment: “Captain of the Ship” Project – Depressive Disorder Week 2

Special topics in nursing practice.

Rapid advances in technology development and telehealth adoption are opening new opportunities for nurses and healthcare providers to leverage technology for safe, high-quality care and improved patient outcomes. Telehealth encompasses a broad definition of telecommunications and information technology-enabled health care.

Explain the following terms:

  • Telehealth
  • Telemedicine
  • Telenursing

Telehealth in its many forms can provide many benefits; however, there are issues that surround this mode of healthcare delivery. Four main issues related to telehealth are:

1. Reimbursement

2. Medicolegal issues/Nursing licensure

3. Technical Issues

4. Research

Please choose one of the following telehealth topics below for your initial response post. Include key aspects of the four issues noted above in your discussion.

  • E-Intensive Care Units
  • Portable Telehealth Self-Monitoring Devices
  • Telehomecare
  • Telemental Health
  • Teletrauma Care

I agree with the relaxation and breathing methods used to help the patient. You mentioned that the patient is wheelchair-bound and has gained weight. These can be a result of low physical activity and immobilization.  Studies have shown that treatment techniques such as relaxation, massage, and active exercises are used for nominalizing respiration and muscular control and helping the patient to become aware of how the body and mind interact ( Breitve, Hynninen & Kyale 2010).

Looking at the age of your client (65 years), as a middle-aged older adults, the stepped-care approach may be effective for her. According to Meuldijk & Wuthrich (2019), stepped-care models are effective in treating depression and anxiety with this population. The goal of stepped care is to offer the most effective but least resourceful intensive intervention for the patient. The starting step of treatment depends on the severity of the patient’s characteristics, and the patients can be stepped up and down during treatment as needed. Thus, having the right service in the right place, at the right time delivered by the right person is important in treating older adults with both depression and anxiety (Meuldijk & Wuthrich 2019).
