Instructions:

Gather statistical data about any foreign country, like population sex, age, religion, income, industry, or other demographic data of your choice. (You may even make up this data if you like including the “country” because it is only to be used as source for this exercise; therefore, DO NOT spend too much time in this task as it is not really critical for this project!).

Then:

  1. PowerPoint (A):
    1. Create a PowerPoint presentation with 4 blank slides and save it as PresentationProject.pptx
    2. Slide 1, this is your Title slide. Here you must simply write the name you want to give to your project.
    3. Slide 2, here you are going to create a bulleted list to show “only” three mayor points regarding the country you chose that may be of interest to potential visitors.
  2. Excel:
    1. Create an Excel workbook with only two worksheets, name the first Worksheet Summary and the second Chart, then save the workbook as ExcelProject.xlsx
    2. Select Summary worksheet and create a basic table to show the data you are using for your project.
    3. Select Chart worksheet and using data from the table created in worksheet Summary, create a chart (Pie or Columnar) to show a graphical representation of the data you are working with.
  3. Word:
    1. Create a blank Word document and save it as WordProject.docx
    2. Here you need to select the table from the Excel Worksheet created to complete step 2-b and Link it into the Word document. (All I need to see in the Word document is the table linked to the Excel workbook, please DO NOT write anything else) (select the table, copy and then Paste Special into the document if you are using version 2007 or 2010 and if you are using versions 2013, 2016, 365 or any of the new ones select ‘Link & keep source formatting’ option from the Paste Options of the Paste control/Clipboard Group/Home Tab). This way you will see that each time you make any change or update the table in Excel the table in Word also will change/update automatically. Play with this a little, it is neat!Link & Embed, Paste Special
  4. PowerPoint (B):
    1. Slide 3, here you need to embed the Excel Chart created to complete step 2-c.(select the chart, copy and then paste it into the slide).
  5. Access:
    1. Create a database containing only one table and that table must contain only four Fields. Save this database as DatabaseProject.accdb. The first field must be the Primary Key (you can use AutoNumber, that is the easier and actually the default data type for a Primary Key unless you need to change it manually because your database design requires that). After you build your table, insert data to be able to generate only five records. Keep this database very simple, “BASIC” just to show that you understand the foundations about creating a database.
  6. PowerPoint (C):
    1. Slide 4, open the Access table from step 5 and in Datasheet View select and copy the three first records of the database and paste them as a table into slide 4. (NO a screen shot, NO a picture).

By the end of the project you need to have:

  • A PowerPoint Presentation with 4 slides.
  • An Excel workbook with 2 worksheets.
  • A Word document.
  • An Access database.

As you already may have noticed, this is a very simple exercise with very basic components. The learning goal of this project is not based in the complexity of the activity, the main goal is to introduce you to a real industry like online team collaboration scenario just like any you might have in the real industry setting.

Discussions

This is a required assignment worth 20 points (20-points/1000-points). Assignment must be submitted by the due date. No late assignments are allowed. Please discuss the following topics and provide substantive comments to at least two other posts.
Select from the following list four (4) topics and discuss. Use only 50-words max per topic to discuss and present your answer.  The discussion questions this week are from Chapter’s 3 & 4  (Jamsa, 2013).
Chapter 3 topics:

  • Define and describe PaaS.
  • List the benefits of PaaS solutions.
  • Describe potential disadvantages of PaaS.
  • Describe how a cloud-based database management system differs from an on-site database.
  • List the computing resources normally provided with a PaaS.

Chapter 4 topics:

  • Define and describe IaaS.
  • Define and describe system redundancy. Discuss how you might use IaaS to implement a redundancy plan.
  • Define and describe load balancing. Discuss how you might use IaaS to implement load balancing.
  • Define and describe NAS. Assume you must implement a shared file system within the cloud. What company would you select? Why? What costs should your client expect to pay for cloud-based data on a gigabyte (GB) basis?
  • Define and describe colocation. Discuss how you might use IaaS to implement colocation.
  • Compare and contrast a cloud-based disk storage device (with a file system) with a cloud based database.
  • Compare and contrast physical, dedicated virtual, and shared virtual servers. Search the web for companies that provide each. What cost should a customer expect to pay for each?

NOTE: You are required to use at least two-peer reviewed sources (besides your textbook) to answer the above questions.  The initial post is due by Wednesday at 11:59pm ET.  You must engage on at least three separate days (by Wednesday for the first post and two additional days of peer engagement).  Do not wait until Sunday to engage with peers, this should be an active conversation with your peers.  When replying to peers be sure to engage with substantial posts that add to the conversation.   This is a required assignment worth 20 points (20-points/1000-points). membership policy

This project gives you the opportunity to review what you’ve learned throughout the semester and present a range of topics in the form of a policy that describes how participants can join your business network, and the benefits of doing so. The overall purpose of your policy should be to create interest in your business network and its applications, along with a description of the onboarding process and ongoing benefits to members.

Create a membership policy that describes the benefits and requirements of membership in your Letter of Credit business network. Your policy should be no less than 1000 words and no more than 1500 words. The document you submit should in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) and be named using the following criteria:

BLCN532_SECTION_STUDENTID_LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_Project.docx

  • SECTION is the section number of your current course (2 digits)

  • STUDENTID is your student ID number (with leading zeros)

  • LASTNAME is your last name

  • FIRSTNAME is your first name
Your policy should include the following:

  1. 1)  Purpose statement of the Letter of Credit business network

  2. 2)  Description of the current (base) network (participants and functionality)

  3. 3)  Brief description of upcoming features in the next quarterly release. (Be creative, but
realistic here. Think about what the existing Letter of Credit application does, and what features you’d like to add that would increase the application’s usefulness and value. Analyzing current functionality and determining which features would best meet business needs will be a big part of assessing this assignment.)

  4. 4)  Description of application upgrade process that may impact application availability and member business processes. (i.e. How does the business network organization plan to deploy new software features without causing substantial service interrruptions?)

  5. 5)  List of rights and benefits for participants (how does each member benefit and what data/services are available for each member)

  6. 6)  Membership requirements for new members (minimum security requirements, approval process, decision making rules and authorities, minimum required agreements that new members must accept and agree to)

  7. 7)  Description of fees for participation and service access

  1. 8)  Minimum member resource contributions to the business network

  2. 9)  Process for ending participation in the business network

10) Process for resolving disputes, including appealing the outcome of a resolved dispute. 11) Course of action to initiate an application for membership

Background content for items 1 and 2 will come from your text. Other items will be a combination of content from your text and extrapolation based on what you’ve learned this semester. Pay careful attention to #3. That one requires that you carefully consider how enhancing the application can help it better align with member (and prospective member) business goals. The purpose of this project is to digest the material you’ve learned throughout this semester into a white paper that could be used to recruit potential business network members, as well as provide details of the rights and responsibilities of business network members.

Your policy document should present a clear and concise description of the benefits of being a business network member, why blockchain technology provides superior benefits to solutions based on other technologies, and the onboarding process and expectations once membership is approved. The overall goal is to give you an opportunity to demonstrate that you understand how this example blockchain technology use case implementation aligns with existing, and prospective, member business goals.

Your paper must be in APA format, including citations and references, but I’m not particularly concerned with the specific format you select for the paper’s body.

  • How do data transmission errors affect your perception of each? In other words, does the possibility of error influence your decision regarding which would be better?
  • What other factors would affect a company’s choice?
