Discussion

This IFG discussion should lead you to realize that there are two key challenges. The first is the degree to which Josh and his team are at odds with the rest of the organization and the second is the inconsistency inherent in IFG’s unrealistic desire for risk-free innovation.

Tonya captures this dilemma convincingly at the end of the case when she agrees with John Ahern that IFG needs a process for creativity and innovation to overcome roadblocks but also points out that IFG needs to create some space to play with new ideas. Give these key tensions in the case, How can Josh win support for his team’s 3-point plan to use technology to help IFG reach its customers?
