Part 1: Interest Rates

Many managers do not understand the various ways that interest rates can affect business decisions. For example, if your company decided to build a plant with a 30-year life and short-term debt financing (renewed annually), the cost of the plant could skyrocket if interest rates were to return to their previous highs of 12% to 14%. On the other hand, locking into high, long-term rates could be very costly also with a long period when low short-term interest rates were to be available. As you can see, the ability to know your economic environment and its impact on projected interest rates can be crucial to making good financing decisions.

Describe two to three macroeconomic factors that influence interest rates in general. Explain the effects of each factor on interest rates.

Now think about the industry in which you are employed or one in which you have past experience. To what macroeconomic factors is your industry most sensitive?

Describe two contemporary factors that seem to be impacting your industry today, and identify their impacts on the interest rates experienced within your chosen industry.

The links above contain information on stock valuation, risk, and returns. Please review each one of them. Based on the knowledge gained from the materials presented in the links above, complete the following activities:

Present a detailed discussion of what you learned about stock valuation. Provide examples of how your company has used the concepts. Do you believe financing a company’s operation using stock is better than financing with bonds? Why or why not? Support your discussion with a numerical example.

Based on the materials presented in the “Risk and Return” video, present a discussion on why the materials are important in financial decision making. How would you incorporate risk and return in your financing decisions?

Reflect on the case studies reviewed from the course. Write a 4-5 page paper including the following requirements:

• Describe the importance of ERM usage in organizations. Did you learn something new or was your thinking challenged based on articles and the textbook?
• What are the critical factors to consider in organizations prior to implementing an ERM?
• How often should ERM strategies and processes be modified after implementation?
• What was your favorite case study reviewed on ERM? Which one was your least favorite and why?
• Do you plan to go into a career involving ERM?  If so what is your ideal job role? If not what were reasons for not wanting to go into a career involving ERM?

In your paper include: APA Format

Week 2 Written Assignment

Each assignment will be an essay written in APA format (see below). Each essay should be no less than 1500 words on the topic (s) noted below.

The title page and bibliography do not count towards the word count.

Complete the assignment in a Word document using APA formatting with your last name as part of the file name. Omit the abstract and outline. A Word APA template and APA sample paper are provided for reference

After completing the essay, save and upload the document in the Assignments section of the e-classroom.

Each essay will be checked by Turnitin automatically upon submission.You will have access to the originality reports.

Topic: After conducting independent research using at least three sources not used in the class write an essay that evaluates how to conduct effective research online.

Consider, in 500 words or more, how business processes as services can improve efficiency. This discussion is about business process as a service and security. 

Use at least three sources. Use the Research Databases available from the Danforth Library not Google.   Include at least 3 quotes from your sources enclosed in quotation marks and cited in-line by reference to your reference list.  Example: “words you copied” (citation) These quotes should be one full sentence not altered or paraphrased. Cite your sources using APA format. Use the quotes in your paragaphs.  Stand alone quotes will not count toward the 3 required quotes.

Find one peer reviewed article pertaining to Blockchain and HR. Write a critical review of the article. The review should be at least 4 pages (1000 words) long from introduction through conclusion. Be sure to provide in-text citations when you paraphrase or directly quote from the article. Also include a reference page with an APA style citation of the article. Follow the writing requirements for this course when preparing the paper. Use the following format for the paper:

1. Introduction, including the purpose of your paper and a preview of your paper. Be sure to also provide the article’s title and author(s)’ name(s) in the introduction of your paper.

2. Discuss the purpose and problem the article is addressing.

3. Elaborate on the content of the article.

4. Discuss the findings and conclusion(s) drawn by the article’s author.

5. Discuss the author’s point of view and assumptions. Indicate whether unsubstantiated assumptions were made and whether there is bias that exists in the article.

6. Discuss the significance of the article. Why it is important? On what do you base your assertions?

7. Conclude your paper. Summarize the important aspects of the review.

8. References

Your paper should include 8 centered and bolded headings that correspond to each of the required sections (Introduction, Article’s Purpose and Problem, Content, Article’s Findings and Conclusions, Point of View and Assumptions, Significance, Conclusion, References).

References MUST be cited within your paper in APA format. Your reference page and in-text citations must match 100%. Papers without in-text citations will earn failing grades.

The intent here is to help you understand how the world is truly internetworked and why digital forensics is an important role in our environment.
