Write a simple R script to execute the following:

Preprocessing

  1. Load into R the data included in “Assignment 4 Data.xlsx”.  This data set shows age (years), weight (pounds), and height (inches) for 251 adults.  This will be your master data set.
  2. Create a new variable in the master data set which will be each individual’s body mass index.  The calculation should be done as:

BMI=(weight* .45)(height* .025)2

  1. Using the method presented in class and applying the numerical portion of your U number as a random number seed, take a random sample of 45 cases from the master data set. This will be your primary data set.

Analysis

  1. Use R to conduct a simple linear regression on the data with weight as the independent variable and bmi as the dependent variable.  As a part of this be sure to:
    1. Report the beta coefficients and associated p values and confidence intervals from your model.
    2. Give a written interpretation of your beta coefficients in terms of the actual case at hand.
    3. Assess your model’s conformance with the LINE assumptions of regression.
    4. Give a prediction using your model for an individual weighing 185 pounds. Include 95% confidence and prediction intervals and written interpretations of both intervals.
  2. A 10-year-old boy has been presented to you who weighs 72 pounds.  Give two reasons for why it would be wrong to use your model to predict the boy’s BMI.

Your deliverable will be a single MS-Word file showing 1) the R script which executes the above instructions and 2) the results of those instructions.  The first line of your script file should be a “#” comment line showing your name as it appears in Canvas.  Results should be presented in the order in which they are listed here.  Deliverable due time will be announced in class and on Canvas.  This is an individual assignment to be completed and submitted by the time stated on Canvas.  No collaboration of any sort is allowed on this assignment.  Please remember the prohibition on using screen shots in your deliverable.

Project Part 1

Project Part 1 Task 1: Risk Management Plan

For the first part of the assigned project, you must create an initial draft of the final risk management plan. To do so, you must:

Develop and provide an introduction to the plan by explaining its purpose and importance.

Create an outline for the completed risk management plan.

Define the scope and boundaries of the plan.

Research and summarize compliance laws and regulations that pertain to the organization.

Identify the key roles and responsibilities of individuals and departments within the organization as they pertain to risk management.

Develop a proposed schedule for the risk management planning process.

Create a professional report detailing the information above as an initial draft of the risk management plan.

Write an initial draft of the risk management plan as detailed in the instructions above. Your plan should be made using a standard word processor format compatible with Microsoft Word.

Project Part 1 Task 2: Risk Assessment Plan

After creating an initial draft of the risk management plan, the second part of the assigned project requires you to create a draft of the risk assessment (RA) plan. To do so, you must:

Develop an introduction to the plan explaining its purpose and importance.

Create an outline for the RA plan.

Define the scope and boundaries for the RA plan.

Research and summarize RA approaches.

Identify the key roles and responsibilities of individuals and departments within the organization as they pertain to risk assessment.

Create a professional report detailing the information above as an initial draft of the RA plan.

Project Part 1 Task 3: Risk Mitigation Plan

Senior management at Health Network allocated funds to support a risk mitigation plan and have requested that the risk manager and team create a plan in response to the deliverables produced within the earlier phases of the project. The risk mitigation plan should address the identified threats described in the scenario for this project, as well as any new threats that may have been discovered during the risk assessment. You have been assigned to develop this new plan.

Submission points:

A section titled Introduction discussing the purpose of the plan. You must include details from the scenario, above, describing the environment.

Scenario

Computer applications that run on desktop and laptop computers  have, for a long time, been designed to be driven by dragging and  clicking a mouse. With the introduction of tablet personal computers,  the trend has shifted toward using touch-based screens. We now have  access to touch-based TVs, touch-based monitors, touch-based laptops,  and touch-based tablets. Touch and multi-touch devices provide end users  with the ability to interact physically with an application much more  naturally.

Imagine that you are the Information Technology Director of a  major chain restaurant, and you have been assigned to design a menu  ordering application that can run on all devices. Examine whether using a  touch-screen monitor, a tablet, or a mouse to select menu items to  place an order would be most efficient. Speculate how employees would  interact with these devices and the type of emotional reaction that  customers and employees will experience while placing a beverage,  appetizer, or entrée order.

Instructions

Write a 4–5 page paper in which you:

  1. Differentiate between the interaction types and styles that apply to multi-touch screens and applications running on them.
  2. Determine the conceptual model that you would use when designing a product for your restaurant.
  3. Describe the key analogies and concepts these monitors expose  to users, including the task-domain objects users manipulate on the  screen.
  4. Determine one utility or tool in an application for touch-based  and mouse-driven screens that should be designed with memory retention  or recall. Provide a rationale for your response.
  5. Use at least three quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as quality resources. You may use the resources above or others of your choosing.
