At UC, it is a priority that students are provided with strong educational programs and courses that allow them to be servant-leaders in their disciplines and communities, linking research with practice and knowledge with ethical decision-making. This assignment is a written assignment where students will demonstrate how this course research has connected and put into practice within their own career.

Assignment:
Provide a reflection of at least 500 words (or 2 pages double spaced) of how the knowledge, skills, or theories of this course have been applied, or could be applied, in a practical manner to your current work environment. If you are not currently working, share times when you have or could observe these theories and knowledge could be applied to an employment opportunity in your field of study.

Share a personal connection that identifies specific knowledge and theories from this course.

You should NOT, provide an overview of the assignments assigned in the course. The assignment asks that you reflect how the knowledge and skills obtained through meeting course objectives were applied or could be applied in the workplace. 

You have just been hired as the Security Manager of a medium-sized Financial Services company employing 250 people in New Hampshire and have been asked to write two new security policies for this company. The first one is an e-mail policy for employees concentrating on personal use of company resources. The second policy is that of WIFI and Internet use within the company.

There are many resources available on the web so researching these topics and policies should be easy. The most difficult part of this exercise will be determining how strict or how lenient you want to make these policies for this particular company. In 1200-1500 words.

#1 John Cage Sonatas and “Interludes for Prepared Piano, Sonata II” (1946-48)
This piece is written for piano, but certainly doesn’t sound like the traditional tone color of the piano.  Describe the tone colors that are generated by this “prepared piano.”  What is a prepared piano? #2  Edgard Varese “Poème électronique” (Electronic Poem: 1958)
The first stage of music produced electronically in the twentieth-century was called “musique concrete.”  Composers recorded sounds onto audio tape, and then manipulated them in the studio to produce a fixed performance of the piece.  Varese’s Poem electronique is perhaps one of the most famous of these works.  read about it in your textbook before you listen.  Try to put yourself back in 1958 and think about the technology that was available at that time.  Listen carefully to try to discern some of the raw sound material.  How do you think this piece was received in 1958? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTMSllIv2lw

#3  John Adams “Short Ride on a Fast Machine” (1986)
John Adams is most often referred to a “postminimalist” composer.  Listen to his “Short Ride in a Fast Machine” and discuss why this piece could be described as “minimalist.”  Does this piece aptly portray its title?  What specific types of musical techniques does he use in this piece to create the perpetual motion? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LoUm_r7It8

#4  Kaija Saariaho “L’amour de loin” (Love from Afar: 2000)
Saariaho’s career has produced music that has used techniques of live electronics, mixed media (music, text, tape, electronics, dance, video). Chapter-10: Governance- Necessary Evil of Regulated Industries 

This chapter introduced the need and function of governance in a blockchain environment. 

Discussion Topic:

1.choose two aspects of enterprise blockchain governance presented in chapter 10 and, 

2.describe how you think each one could help govern a blockchain environment (and how it differs from a traditional application environment.)

Instructions

Submit the Case Analysis and Incident Impacts portion of the final project. In this assignment, you will analyze the ethical issues and determine the legal compliance issues within the organization, as well as the social and cultural impacts of these compliance issues. You will be expected to address the impact the incident may have had on the ethical and legal IT regulations at the time. The connection between the industry standards and the standards for informational technology should be determined, as well as the influence of the cultural impact on IT and cyber-communication or commerce.

 On November 3, 2020, California’s Privacy Rights Act is on the ballot. As of the time this assignment is being written, we do not know whether it will pass or not. Please write a 250 word essay on what the Act contains, and if it passed the ballot or not. Please tell why it passed or did not pass.
