Term Topic Proposal

In this assignment, you will select a current medical ethics issue to research

Select a topic related to one of the following current medical ethics issues:

  • Patient Confidentiality and Risk to Society

455Topic 5 DQ 2

Explain the modifiable and nonmodifiable risk factors for osteoporosis. How can a nurse support the patient in managing the health condition and restore the patient to optimal health?

Initial discussion question posts should be a minimum of 200 words and include at least two references cited using APA format. Responses to peers or faculty should be 100-150 words and include one reference. Refer to “RN-BSN Discussion Question Rubric” and “RN-BSN Participation Rubric,” located in Class Resources, to understand the expectations for initial discussion question posts and participation posts, respectively.

executive summary

One of the most important skills for a nurse executive to have is the ability to write an executive summary. An executive summary is a concise yet thorough accounting of a larger report or proposal for change. For example, when an institution has an accreditation visit, many criteria must be met. Therefore, the report received from the accreditors will be lengthy. The stakeholders, i. e., higher-level leaders, will need to be given a report that contains key areas of concern, the impact of the issue on organizational operations and the quality of health care delivery, what is proposed for correcting the issue and the organizational impact of the intervention. The executive summary is based on the evidence found in the report and other factors.

Case Scenario
As the chief quality and safety officer, you have been leading the initiative for the healthcare system to obtain MagnetT status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The facility applied, was visited, and has received the report. The report identifies a deficiency (or deficiencies) in one of the Five Magnet Model* components. A solution must be implemented that shows improvement in the area within the next six months, at which time another visit will be scheduled.

For this assignment, you will create an executive summary of the report addressed to the board of directors of the healthcare facility. You will choose a Force of Magnetism within one of the MagnetT model components for your focus. The executive summary will include all the following: (1) a description of one of the five Magnet components within which a deficiency (or deficiencies) exists, (2) the specific “Force of Magnetism” that is deficient, (3) the criterion used by the examiners to the indicate the deficiency and the evidence/metric used, (4) an analysis of their findings and possible solutions to resolve the issue, and (5) the impact of the deficiency and recommended solutions on the organization.

The Five Magnet Model Components* are listed below. Choose one of these upon which to focus your…… The link to the ANCC website where these components are described is provided at the beginning of the assignment. Within each component, the “Forces of Magnetism” are listed. The description of how these are measured, or the evidence examined to determine compliance, is also generally described on the web page. Choose one of the Forces to explore more deeply and describe how your facility was deficient. From this, you will be able to propose two potential solutions to address the deficiency found by the examiners. In your description of criteria/findings, you will need to identify the specific criteria used and the evidence of the deficiency.

Introduction

Over the period of eight weeks, I have engaged in analysis of several areas that has enhanced my perception of nursing practice and theory utilization considerably. For instance, the middle-range theories have helped in establishment of a linkage between clinical events and realistic practice, as well as the direction from achievers in the field has enhanced mastery and personal development.

Middle-Range Theories in Nursing Practice

Middle-range theories have gradually gained appreciation due to their effectiveness in converting theoretical ideas into practice, prescribing practices. These theories become valuable resources that are used in clinical reasoning, patient evaluation, and the formulation of actions to be made in treatment. The literature points out that middle-range theories also have a great utility in the theory-practice Nurses’ Clinical context as they offer specific but generic guidelines to solve the real-life patient care issues. In this course, I have come to understand the role of these theories about EBPF in the ways that research information can be applied to the provision of care. The use of middle-range theories contributes to proceduralizing of the processes, thus improving the outcomes of a patient and the overall organization of cooperation between the teams, as well as providing a high level of systematicity to the nursing practice.

Impact of Mentors During the Course

Equally important to mention is the significance of the constant guidance during the course. I have gained significant guidance from different individuals through the theoretical and practical parts of nursing practices. They have guided scholars towards making better use of middle-range theories in practice and focusing on the reflective issues in clinical practice. Mentors have also created a more learning-focused learning atmosphere where feedback and practical solutions to problems matter. According to the literature, proper mentorship has a proper participation in the training of nursing students and enhances critical thinking and practice of resilience in clinical practice (Johnson & Cooper, 2023). By the provision of ongoing discussions, practice, and journaling as encouraged by my mentors, I have gained improved competencies that have helped me review the theories learnt in this course.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it can be said that the use of the middle-range theories in practice and the significance of the mentor role can be critical for the practical learning of a nurse during the eight weeks. The combination of theory with practice means that there is a clear guideline on how the nursing practice will be conducted, and the mentors make sure that these practices are relevant and can be practiced in a real-world setting. This approach has helped me not only in enhancing my knowledge in the practice of nursing but also in preparing me to become a more reflective practitioner. It can be said that future interaction with both of such theories and a mentor surely will be the foundation of further professional activity.
