There is no penalty for longer papers.

· Requirements

o There is a 1,500 words, minimum requirement, per paper, for this assignment, no page limit. Be sure to follow APAv7 style. I’m more interested in how much you learn from conducting the research, select security technologies and craft interoperability. What you will not do is copy from a website, book, or other source and turn them in as your own work; this constitutes plagiarism. The strategies that students use in statistics

Problem 1

“The strategies that students use in statistics courses are powerful predictors of performance. For example, spending a higher number of hours reading assigned chapters and completing assigned homework result in higher final grades. In this study we explored whether the number of hours spent reading assigned chapters and completing assigned homework predicted final grades in a nationally representative sample of undergraduate students across the US. We randomly selected 200 students from a nationally representative list of students in the US. The sample included 60.5% women the mean age was 30.93 with a standard deviation (SD) 5.34; participants’ race included 45.00% White, 21.50% African-American, 17.50% Asian, 16.00% Mix-race, while ethnicity included 58.50% Latinx. Participants reported a household annual income of Less than $50K/year (23.50%), Between $50K and $100K/year (40.00%), More than $100K/year (36.50%). The sample mean final grade was 54.99 and SD = 1.61. The sample average number of hours spent reading assigned chapters and completing assigned homework was 8.22 and SD = 2.02. Please note, that ΣX*Y is 90865.9.”

PRESENTATION

PRESENTATION:

For your main discussion post in Week 8, create a poster, audio-visual aid, or PowerPoint presentation that summarizes the main takeaways from your case study that you feel you should share with your classmates. Get those creative juices flowing and have fun creating, sharing, and discussing your topic with everyone in the classroom! Remember to include citations and references as appropriate.

Do your best to post early in Week 8 so that there is more opportunity to discuss everyone’s projects.

DataMining

Your team will have to find a problem to solve that deals with an organizational issue that will be solved through the use of data mining.  There must be data mining calculations and graphics in the final deliverable. The team should meet prior to the residency weekend and agree to a problem they will solve using data mining techniques. On Friday evening, teams will meet for the residency weekend and put together a one-page proposal that must be reviewed and approved by the professor that states:

  1. The problem to solve.
  2. How data mining will solve the problem.
  3. Potential functions or concepts that will be used from the course.

On Saturday, teams will reconvene and complete the following:

  1. A paper that includes:
    1. The problem- note the description and why it’s a problem and how you are going to make a recommendation with data mining techniques.
    2. The analysis of how data mining the data will solve the issue.
    3. Graphical representation and formulas to solve the problem.
    4. A summary of the consideration and evaluation of results
      1. This includes your teams’ final analysis of the problem and the resolution.

Project Description:

You work as an associate database manager at Replacement China, Inc. This firm specializes in finding difficult-to-replace, no-longer manufactured china, crystal, silver, and collectibles. You need to add a hyperlink field that will store a URL for each manufacturer’s website. The HR department manager wants to store a photo and the most recent performance review for each employee. You also export inventory items in three different formats. Finally, you import information from Excel, Access, and text files. Compact and repair the database when you are finished. Start Access. Open the downloaded   Access database named exploring_a08_Grader_h1.accdb. Save the database as exploring_a08_Grader_h1_LastFirst. Create   a new field in the Manufacturer table after RlMfgCode named Website with the Hyperlink data type. Save the   table. Switch   to Datasheet view, add the website http://www.lenox.com   to the Lenox China record (7). Add   http://www.waterford.com to the Waterford Crystal record (14).   Click each link to make sure it launches a browser and locates the   appropriate website. Close the table. Create   a new field in the Employees table after HireDate named Files with the Attachment data type. Save the   table. Switch   to Datasheet view and use the Find command to locate the record for UserID 822680. Add the downloaded Word document   named 822680.doc and the picture   file named 822680.jpg to the Files   field. Create   a basic form based on the Employees table that will open in Layout view.   Delete the subform. Navigate to the record for UserID 822680 (record 21) and   use the Attachment toolbar to display the Word document and the picture file. Save   the form as Employees.   Close the form and the table. Use Filter by Selection to display records in   the Inventory table where the Category equals Crystal. Filter the records further to display Crystal where the OH (on hand) value   equals 0 (three records will display). Export   the filtered records to an Excel file. Save the file as a08c1Crystal_LastFirst. Do not save the export steps. Close   the Inventory table without saving the changes. Create   a linked table in the database by importing the workbook named a08c1Customers.xlsx. Use the first row   of the Customers1 worksheet as column headings and accept all other default   options. Create   a linked table in the database by importing the Customers2 table from the   database named a08c1Customers.accdb. Create   a table in the database by importing the text file named a08c1Textcust.csv. Use the first row of the file as field names,   CustomerNum as the primary key, and name the table Customers Text. Accept all other default options. Save   the database. Close the database, and then exit Access. Submit the database   as directed.
