Discussion Operations Security

Enforcement of security policies is most effective when it comes from leadership. Employees look to executive management for direction. The executive is more likely to enforce policies to support his or her personal credibility. Once executives put their own credibility behind policies, they are less likely to allow violations to occur.

Finding the right level of leadership to take action can be a challenge. It’s generally more effective to have leadership governance and management committees responsible for IT security policy enforcement, where governance sets the direction for management to follow.

Answer the following question(s):

Why, or in what ways, would a governance committee be more effective than an executive in enforcing security policies?

Write a boolean

1. Write a boolean expression that will evaluate to true if the checkbox named regentsCompletedCheckBox is checked.

2. Write an if statements that displays the text “You are eligible to vote!” in the voteStatusLabel if the value in the variable age is 18 or higher.
Display “You are not old enough to vote!” if the value in the variable age is less than 18.

3. This is an expansion of the previous problem. Write an if statement that displays the text “You are eligible to vote!” in the voteStatusLabel if
the value in the variable age is 18 or higher and the variable isRegistered is true. Display “You are not eligible to vote!” if the value in the
variable age is less than 18 or the variable isRegistered is false.

4. Write an If statement that will set the resultLabel to the text “Look out for rainbows” if both of the checkboxes sunShiningCheckBox and rainingCheckBox are checked.

 5. Write an if statement that will set the resultLabel to “I will pass the exam!” if the checkboxes studyCheckBox, workExamplesCheckBox, and
askQuestionsCheckBox are all checked.

week-8

You are the web master of a college website. You share a server with other school departments such as accounting and HR.

Based on this chapter, create at least five security-related rules for staff members who are adding web pages being added to your site. Include a justification and explanation for each rule. Rules should relate to college, staff and student, and system information security.

Assgn

Imagine you run a small business that handles sensitive data for its clients. Such a company might handle payroll for other companies or some other task that requires a great deal of data security. Because you transmit important information (employee data, account numbers, invoices, and the like), you decide it is a good idea to use encryption, to digitally sign e-mail messages, and to have a digital certificate. Visit the websites of certificate authorities. In your web research, determine how much it will cost your company to acquire a digital certificate and the kinds of information you must provide to the certificate authority.

Weekly Journal 3

Each week you are to enter content into an online journal provided in Blackboard that briefly summarizes (1) the tasks you performed during your internship that week and (2) total hours worked with days/times. The content can be brief and in outline form and use bullet or another list styling, but keep in mind that this content will form the basis of the two major papers that you will write for this course. Therefore, the more detailed you are in your weekly journal, the easier it will be to finish the two papers. Specifically, your weekly journal should contain:

• The days and times you worked that week, as well as the total hours, worked. (Provide this information at the top of each weekly section so this will act as a de facto heading to separate each weekly entry that you make.)

• The skills or skillsets used/required to complete each task

• Each task you performed along with a brief description of what you did.

 • A brief explanation of why the task needed to be done.

 • Was there an outcome? If so, what was that outcome?

 • What new terminology did you learn this week? Provide the term and its definition.

ANOVA

An ANOVA is when we want to run a means test on more than 2 groups. However, the same basic structure of the hypothesis testing that we have done remains.

Using the hockey data, test if there is a difference between the true average number of goals scored by the different divisions. Second, test if there is a difference between the actual mean number of goals allowed by teams of different quality (where teams with at least 100 points is the top tier, those with 90-99 are the middle tier, and those with less than 90 make up the bottom tier).

If either of these tests show significance, run a multiple comparisons test among the groups. (Note that this is essentially the two sample testing we just did but with an adjustment to ensure that we don’t have inflated error probabilities.) Use a 0.05 significance level for all tests.

As you do this for your own data set, ensure that at least one of the two problems shows significance and requires pairwise comparisons. Unless impossible to avoid, do not use more than 4 groups — there’s nothing that says you can’t, but it’ll make your report much more tedious. Also note that if you only have 2 groups, that’s a two sample independent mean test and not an ANOVA; we did that last assignment, so ensure that you have at least 3 groups in your analysis.
