Paper A: Application of a decision making framework to an IT-related ethical issue.

This assignment is an opportunity to explore and apply a decision making framework to an IT-related ethical issue. A framework provides a methodical and systematic approach for decision making. UMGC Module 2 – Methods of Ethical Analysis (see LEO Content – Readings for week 2) describes three structured frameworks that may be used for ethical analysis, namely Reynolds Seven-Step Approach, Kidder’s Nine Steps, and Spinello’s Seven-Step Process. There are several ways described in UMGC Module 2 to systematically approach an ethical dilemma, and while each of the frameworks described has its merits, each will result in an ethical decision if straightforwardly, objectively,  and honestly applied.

In addition, consider the ethical theories described in Module 1 – Introduction to Theoretical Ethical Frameworks (see LEO Content – Readings for week 1) which help decision makers find the right balance concerning the acceptability of and justification for their actions. A separate write-up of the ethical theory that supports your decision is part of the following requirements.

For this paper, the following five elements must be addressed:

  • Describe a current IT-related ethical issue: Since this is a paper exercise, not a real-time situation, you may want to construct a brief scenario where this issue comes into play, and thus causes an ethical dilemma.  The dilemma may affect you, your family, your job, or your company; or it may be a matter of public policy or law that affects the general populace. See the list below for a list of suggested issues, which may be a source of ethical dilemmas.
  • Define a concise problem statement that is extracted from the above description or scenario. It is best if you define a specific problem caused by the dilemma, that needs a specific ethical decision to be made, that will solve the dilemma.   Be aware that if it is a matter of public policy or law, that it may require a regulatory body or congressional approval to take action to implement a solution.
  • Analyze your problem using one of the structured decision-making frameworks chosen from Module 2. Make sure that you identify the decision-making framework utilized. In addition, the steps in the decision-making framework selected must be used as major headings in the Analysis section.
  • Consider and state the impact of the decision that you made on an individual, an organization, stakeholders, customers suppliers, and the environment, as applicable!
  • State and discuss the applicable ethical theory from Module 1 that supports your decision.

Ethics 5

Read the attached Ethics-V.pdf Download Ethics-V.pdfwhich continues the discussion on the professional codes of software engineering ethics.

Then proceed to answer the questions inside the reading:

Question 8:1: Read over Appendix A and B. Identify two code items from
Appendix  A  and  two  from  Appendix  B  about  which  you  have  either:  a  question
concerning  its  meaning,  a  comment  about  its  importance,  or  a  concern  about  its
ability to be well implemented.  Pose those questions/comments/concerns below.

Question  8:2:  How  might  the  qualities  of  a  ‘superprofessional’  engineer  with
practical  wisdom,  as  described  in  this  section,  assist  such  a  person  in  applying
these codes successfully?  Be specific.

Question   C:1: What forms of harm did members of the public suffer as a result of
Google StreetView images?  What forms of harm could they have suffered as a
result of Google’s data-collection efforts?

Question   C:2: What institutional and professional choices might have been
responsible for Google StreetView’s violations of public privacy?

Question  C:3:  What ethical strategies from your earlier reading in this unit could
Google engineers and managers have used to produce a more optimal balance of
functionality and ethical design?  Could one or more Google ‘superprofessionals’
have prevented the privacy breaches, and if so, how?

Question  C:4:  What can Google do now  to prevent similar privacy issues with its
products in the future?

Because for many ethics questions there is no absolutely right or wrong answers as such, your responses will be graded based on completeness and thoughtfulness as opposed to rote or perfunctory ones. There are three grade levels for this assignment based on your responses to all the questions: 20 (no reasoning in responses), 35 (minimal to little reasoning), and 50 (sufficient reasoning and consideration).

Write your answers in a Word file using Times New Roman font (no smaller than 10 pt but no bigger than 12 pt), single spacing, 1″ margins on all sides.

Prompt analysis research paper

The final portfolio project is a three- part activity. You will respond to three separate prompts but prepare your paper as one research paper. Be sure to include at least one UC library source per prompt, in addition to your textbook (which means you’ll have at least 4 sources cited).

Start your paper with an introductory paragraph.

Prompt 1 “Blockchain” (2-3 pages): Explain the major components of blockchain. Be sure to include how blockchain is affecting a global economy and how you see it growing in the future.

Prompt 2 “Big Data” (1-2 pages): Describe your understanding of big data and give an example of how you’ve seen big data used either personally or professionally. In your view, what demands is big data placing on organizations and data management technology?  How does big data affect a global economy.

Prompt 3 “Government and Policies” (1-2 pages):  Discuss the role government plays in a global economy.  Also, look at what policies are currently in place and then discussion what policies should be put in place..

Conclude your paper with a detailed conclusion section.

The paper needs to be approximately six to eight pages long, including both a title page and a references page (for a total of eight to ten pages). Be sure to use proper APA formatting and citations to avoid plagiarism.

Your paper should meet these requirements:

  • Be approximately six to eight pages in length, not including the required cover page and reference page.
  • Follow APA 7 guidelines. Your paper should include an introduction, a body with fully developed content, and a conclusion.
  • Support your answers with the readings from the course and at least two scholarly journal articles to support your positions, claims, and observations, in addition to your textbook. The UC Library is a great place to find resources.
  • Be clearly and well-written, concise, and logical, using excellent grammar and style techniques. You are being graded in part on the quality of your writing.

Project Description

Brilton Madley, a board game  manufacturer, hired a new CEO. She asked for your assistance in  providing summaries of data that took place before she started with the  company. To help her with her strategic planning, you will create  queries to perform data analysis. Based on your meeting, you plan on  creating four queries. One query will find orders with minor delays.  Another query will summarize company revenue and cost by country. A  third query will be used to help evaluate payments made by customers on  their orders. The final query will calculate the total sales by sales  representative title.

Create a query using Query Design.   From the Customers table,  include the fields FirstName, LastName, and Phone   (in that order).  From the Orders table, include the fields OrderID,   OrderDate, and  ShippedDate (in that order). Run the query and then examine the records.  Save the query as Shipping   Efficiency.

Add   a calculated field named DaysToShip   to  calculate the number of days taken to fill each order. (Hint: the    expression will include the OrderDate and ShippedDate fields; the  results   will not contain negative numbers.) Run the query and then  examine the   results. Save the query.

Add   criteria to limit the query results to include any order that took more than 30 days to ship.

Add the Quantity field from the   Orders table and the ProductName  field from the Products table to the query   (in that order). Sort the  query by ascending LastName.

Add the caption Days to Ship to the DaysToShip field. Switch to   Datasheet view to view the final results. Save and close the query.

Create a query using Query Design and   add the Customers, Orders,  and Products tables. Add the Country field from   the Customers table.  Set the field’s Total row to Group By. Save the   query as Revenue and Cost by Country.

Add a calculated field in the second   column. Name the field TotalRevenue.    This field should multiply the quantity ordered (from the Orders  table) by   the unit price for that item (from the Products table).  Format the calculated   field as Currency and change the caption to Total Revenue.   Change the Total row for the TotalRevenue field to Sum.

Add a calculated field in the third   column. Name the field TotalCost.    The field should multiple the quantity ordered (from the Orders  table) by the   unit cost for that item (from the Products table).  Format the calculated   field as Currency   and add a caption of Total Cost.   Change the Total row to Sum. Run the query. Save the query. Return to Design   view.

Add the OrderDate field and criteria   to that field so that only orders made between 7/1/2018   and 12/31/2018  are displayed. Change the Total row   to Where. This expression will  display only orders that were completed during   the second half of  2018. Run the query and view the results. Save and close   the query.

Create   a copy of the Revenue and Cost by Country query named Customer Payments.  Switch to Design view of the new   query and remove the Country,  TotalCost, and OrderDate fields. Add the   FirstName and LastName  fields. Move the TotalRevenue field to the end. Rename   the  TotalRevenue field to OrderTotal.   Change the caption to Order Total.

Add   a new field using the Expression Builder named SamplePayment.   Insert the Pmt function with the following parameters:
 •   Use .05/12 for the rate argument (5% interest,   paid monthly)
 •   Use the number 12   for the num_periods argument (12 months)
 •   Use the calculated field OrderTotal   for the present_value
 •   Use 0 for both future_value and type

Change   the Total row to Expression for the SamplePayment field.  Change the Format   for the SamplePayment field to Currency. Run the  query and verify the second   order(with LastName Sparks) has a sample  payment of $26.80. Note: it will   display as a negative number. Save  and close the query.

Create   a copy of the Revenue and Cost by Country query named Revenue by Sales Rep.  Switch to Design view of the new   query and remove the entire  Customers table, the TotalCost, and OrderDate   fields. Add the Sales  Reps table. Add the Title field from the Sales Reps   table and move it  to the front of the TotalRevenue field.

Run   the query and then examine the summary records; there should be  4 Titles   listed. Switch to Design view and change the sort order so  that the title   with the highest TotalRevenue is first and the title  with the lowest   TotalRevenue is last. Run the query and verify the  results. Save and close   the query.

Professor Higgins has asked you to design

Professor Higgins has asked you to design the logic that will be used to calculate final class averages and grades for his students. His grading algorithm is as follows.

Exam average: 60%

Quiz average: 20%

Lab average: 20%Professor Higgins has 20 students in his class. For each student, Professor Higgins will enter the student’s name and store into a “names” array, then input the value for each of the averages (exam, quiz, and lab). Using the weighting above, the program will calculate the final student class average and store each student’s final average into an array. The program will then determine the letter grade for each student using the following criteria.

90–100: A

80–89: B

70–79 C

60–69 D

Less than 59 F

When the student’s final grade is determined, the final grade will be stored in a third “grade” array.

After all data have been input and calculations done, display the final output using the 3 arrays as a Grade Report with headings of NAME, AVERAGE, and GRADE.

· Display the name, final average, and grade for all the students.

· Calculate and display the total class average (total of all individual student averages / number in class).Write a program using C#, prompt the user for the appropriate input, and display the output as described above. You may assume all data are valid. Provide a program introduction message that tells the user how to use the program

SE week 2 discussion

 1. What are the common errors to avoid in your program when using

a.  variables?

b. conditional if statements?
