Melanie Castillo, Product Manager for Rosedale Landscape and Garden, has requested a worksheet that summarizes the current palm tree inventory data. Melanie would like the worksheet to include the total Quantity in Stock and Total amount of Sales by Type, and she would like the items to be sorted from lowest to highest retail price using custom sort. She would also like the Total amount of all Sales, with a Funnel Chart created.

Single sign-on allows users to connect to all of their web applications by using only one set of credentials. End users only have to remember a single unique password instead of different passwords for each app. This lowers the risk of users using the same password for each app. Single sign-on makes it easier for the IT team to monitor and control user credentials. Using good SSO practices can reduce the likelihood of password related attacks. Single sign-on can be expensive to initially set up. Having SSO on a shared device can cause issues. 

The industry I chose is the healthcare industry. I believe that SSO with multifactor authentication would be the best sign on architecture for this type of industry. With healthcare, a second factor of authorization can help better protect the PHI of their patients. In the event that a password was stolen, the malicious user can’t gain access without the second form of authorization. Once the end user confirms who they are, SSO makes sure that they should have access to the application they are trying to use.

Purpose

This assignment is intended to help you learn to solve a problem with Blind Search.

The Problem

The “8-puzzle” (or “15-puzzle”) is a “sliding tile” puzzle that you’ve probably seen one place or another. Here’s the Wikipedia article on it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/15_puzzle).

Basically, you’re given a 3×3 (or 4×4) grid of tiles, with tiles holding the numbers 1-8 (or 1-15), and one cell empty.

A “move” is to move a tile above, below, to the left, or to the right of the blank into the empty space (which makes space previously holding the tile now empty). 

Action Items

1. Suppose we want to develop an AI-based search system to solve the problem described above.  Answer the following questions about the design of the solution: 
   1. How will you represent a “state” in this system? 
   2. How will you represent an action in this system?  How does it generate a new state? 
   3. What is the (worst-case) branching factor for your design? 
   4. If we are using uninformed search to solve this, do you think Breadth-First Search or Depth-First Search will be better?  Why?  Is there anything you need to worry about?

Last week we separated discussion of Android and iOS development platform issues primarily because each platform poses its own set of development tools and associated issues. On closer inspection and from the standpoint of mobile app development, both platforms have similar issues for developers. So, this week we have some of the same questions regarding developing apps for iOS as we did for Android. Developers should develop as if they expect their app to be available for all iOS devices – is this even possible given the proliferation of new “i” devices coming to market, and Apple’s market dominance?

• Besides cost, why should mobile app developers target the iOS platform?
• Why is iOS development difficult – in what ways do Apple itself contribute to difficulty for developers?
• Describe key ingredients (tools, SDKs, etc.) needed to create deployable mobile applications on the  iOS platform. 
• What improvements are made to mobile development by use of Apple’s xCode-Swift SDK?
