Week 10 Assignment – The Presentation

1. Congratulations. Your project has been staffed and you are about to meet with the team for the first time. Initial impressions are important and you’ll need visuals for your presentation. Refer to PowerPoint for Windows Training if you need additional information on using PowerPoint.
   Create a slide show (in PowerPoint or similar software) in which you address the following, in this order:
   1. Goals: What the project hopes to accomplish.
   2. Critical Success Factors: Identify at least four different stakeholders; for each, list at least two things that the stakeholder requires in order to deem the project successful.
   3. Acquisition strategy: Should the system be built in house, created by a contractor, purchased off the shelf and customized, or leased as a service? Explain your rationale.
   4. Resources: For in-house development, what people and skills are required and what development life cycle do you recommend? Otherwise, identify three candidate organizations that can deliver the system.
   5. System functions: In a table format, summarize the types of users for the system; the business reason(s) each would use the system; the ways that the system supports each of these needs and how this support differs from the current system.
   6. Connectivity: Provide a diagram that shows how the system will connect to the other information systems and what data flows among them.
   7. Security: List the most serious cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities of the new system. Suggest strategies to address them.
   8. Mobility: Identify the system’s capabilities for mobile use. Include a title and summary slide.
   9. Use one slide for each of the preceding eight points.
      Include speaker notes or audio narration that explains each slide more fully.

Your team will conduct a literature review in Information Governance  

You can also conduct a literature review on information governance and how it is applied to an Information Technology organization.

You are to review the literature on Information Governance planning and discuss problems and gaps that have been identified in the literature. You will expand on the issue and how researchers have attempted to examine that issue by collecting data – you are NOT collecting data, just reporting on how researchers did their collection.

As you read the literature, it will become apparent that there are multiple issues, pick one issue that stands out in the literature and agree on that as a Team to address that.

Format:

Background: Describe the issue, discuss the problem, and elaborate on any previous attempts to examine that issue.

Data Analysis: What were some of the findings, for example, if there were any hypotheses asked, were they supported?

Write a paper on how you would use Object Oriented Design approach to design a payroll system for a company with 200 employees.

The databases used by the Datacenter Edition servers are experiencing rapid growth in terms of use and size. Many of the databases are now used across departments. These databases are considered by the Management Council to be one of the company’s best strategic assets. The Management Council wants to consolidate physical management of the databases and the Datacenter Edition servers in the IT department’s computer room as a way to secure them in one place. Also, they want to consolidate the disk storage used for these databases and provide for fault tolerance. Create a report or slide show for the Management Council with your recommendations, including the advantages of what you recommend.

 Based on the text I believe that using PowerPoint is going to be the  best option for my speech so that I can show visual representations of  some of the data points that I will be talking about, as well as adding  context to my points. When considering what visual aid I should use, I  considered the more technical aspect of my speech and how important the  data is in some of the points I am making. I wanted to make sure that  the data I’m talking about is making sense to my audience, so showing  visual comparisons will help the audience make sense of the data I  mention during the speech. Some of the points I make might be surprising  to people, so it will help to see photos of some things in real life to  help people realize that the things I am saying are true. I also  committed a slide to mention some of the other interesting things to do  with my topic that I don’t have time to discuss because I’d like to  leave the audience with something to think about and google when I am  done.  

This is a required assignment, worth 100 points, and must be submitted by the due date.
