Research: Quantitative vs Qualitative

Background: Quantitative data can be measured and documented with numbers. Additionally, quantitative data can be represented as quantities. On the other hand, qualitative data is not measured with numbers, but it is represented by qualities. For example, I use quantitative methods to conduct my PhD research because I like working with counts and measures.

Assignment: Write a research paper the contains the following:

• Discuss Quantitative Methodology
• Discuss Qualitative Methodology
• Compare and contrast qualitative data vs quantitative data

Your research paper should be at least 2 pages (600 words), double-spaced, have at least 4 APA references, and typed in an easy-to-read font in MS Word (other word processors are fine to use but save it in MS Word format). Your cover page should contain the following: Title, Student’s name, University’s name, Course name, Course number, Professor’s name, and Date.

 The required article readings of above articles give a good discussion and look at some of the frameworks that are used to manage risk within organizations and enterprises. One of the readings this week provided an introduction and comparison of different frameworks. As with anything, there are going to be strengths and weaknesses to all approaches. For research paper, please address the following in a properly formatted research paper:

• Do you think that ISO 27001 standard would work well in the organization that you currently or previously have worked for? If you are currently using ISO 27001 as an ISMS framework, analyze its effectiveness as you perceive in the organization.
• Are there other frameworks mentioned has been discussed in the article that might be more effective?
• Has any other research you uncover suggest there are better frameworks to use for addressing risks?

Your paper should meet the following requirements:

• Be approximately four to six pages in length, not including the required cover page and reference page.
• Follow APA 7 guidelines. Your paper should include an introduction, a body with fully developed content, and a conclusion.
• Support your answers with the readings from the course and at least two scholarly journal articles to support your positions, claims, and observations, in addition to your textbook. 
• Be clearly and well-written, concise, and logical, using excellent grammar and style techniques. You are being graded in part on the quality of your writing.

Discussion:
This week we focus on some additional terms for IT users.  This week lets discuss what a community of practice is.   Why are they important and how can they impact the culture within an organization?

Exercise:

1. What privacy concerns could be raised by collaborative technologies such as Waze?

2.  Write up an example of how IoT might provide a business with a competitive advantage.

Chapter 11:
Review the employment challenge in the digital era (as well as the entire chapter).  Reflect on the various challenges are present in the digital era.  Will things get better or more complicated as times goes on?  Explain.  What are some methods to assimilate new generations into the workforce to think about competitive advantage?

There are a variety of ways that a cyber-attack can cause economic damage. In many cases, attackers try to “penetrate” systems in order to steal technology or other sensitive information. When do you think an attack can be classified as cyber terrorism?

How is the IT function organized in your school or place of employment? Create an organization chart showing how the IT organization fits into your overall organization. Comment on how centralized or decentralized the IT function is.

Which software-development methodology would be best if an organization needed to develop a software tool for a small group of users in the marketing department? Why? Which implementation methodology should they use? Why?

The above assignments should be one page submitted in a single Word document with references. 

Assignment 2:

Chapter 7 – Review the section on dealing with multiple locations and outsourcing. Review figure 7.2 and note how virtual team communications further reiterates the importance of this model. (Information Technology and Organizational Learning)

Chapter 8 – Review the Siemens AG case study. Note the importance of understanding the interrelationships amongst all the senior leaders at every location. Pay special attention to Figure 8.1 and Figure 8.2. Note how the corporate CIO should engage with each of the regional leaders. Why is this important?
